The ECGA seeks a motivated, energetic, detail-minded individual who enjoys spending time on their bicycle to aid with field checking and data input for our cue sheets. This is a short-term contract position paying a modest stipend for time and expenses. The initial contract is for 10 weeks (at 40 hours per week). An additional 10-week contract is possible if funds are available.
Duties will include:
* Using a bicycle to field check data on the ECG route maps and cue sheets for a 1250-mile route from Calais, Maine to Washington, DC
* In the office, inputting data and formatting cue sheets
* Other route-related duties as directed
This is an opportunity for adventure while helping advance the East
Coast Greenway trail system. Road bicycle experience is a prerequisite and candidates should be prepared to ride 40 to 50 miles per day while collecting data. Experience with Excel and Word is required. Use of a car or public transportation to reach departure points or return home may be necessary. Preference will be shown to candidates who are passionate about our mission and with a commitment to sustainable transportation and community development.
The Trail Field Analyst will be responsible for reviewing the East
Coast Greenway route from Calais, Maine to Washington, DC. It is
anticipated that the Analyst may spend days at a time traveling the route and a modest expense stipend will be provided. The candidate should be prepared to camp or use hostels to stretch their fixed expense stipend.
The Trail Field Analyst reports to the Regional Trail Liaison for the
region being field-checked.
A stipend of $5,000 will cover both time and expenses. It will be paid in 4 equal payments, at the start of the contract, after 3 weeks, after 7 weeks and at the end of 10 weeks.
