Writing under his pseudonym "Will Campbell", there's piece by our own Agent Orange in today's Los Angeles Times, putting in a plug for sharrows and bike boulevards. You can read most of it here:

but the print version is substantially longer.

nice article Agent.... tough call on the bike lanes..... I love sharrows as a compromise but I have to say, after riding from city to city to city in the Netherlands where there are explicitly seprate lanes and paths for bikes and cars everywhere, I was pretty pleased. wouldnt mind seeing that here in LA...... hope gas prices hit 8 a gallon... it might make it happen quicker!

Agreed RB.
On the one hand ... yeah, fuck spending millions on bike lanes and thir false sense of saftey and fuck spending even more millions on bike paths that don't go anywhere.... until we actually have to roads that work.
spending over 20 million on a bike path when for fraction of that we could have sharrows and bike blvds. all over this city is about as smart as building a freeway that goes nowhere that you have to take a dirt road to get to.
Great writing AO!
