I hope that no one finds this topic disrespectful....
I thought it would be interesting and perhaps educational to hear peoples accident stories.
here's mine:
-jamming down a hill on sunset, I was on my way to an appointment, and I allowed something to attract my attention away from where I was going. I look up and I am headed for a row of parked cars. I try to swerve back into the bike lane but still crash into the car. I tumble out in front of a bus who was paying attention and managed not to mangle me or my bike. When I landed, I landed on my head. Now, I am really vain so I wasn't wearing a helmut. My messenger bag had slipped off my back and cradled my head like a pillow. You better believe that I will wear a helmut from now on!
I managed to walk away with only a few nasty bruises such as this one!

when i was in 8th grade, i was loyal to nothing but 20" wheels.
i overcleared some jumps and bent my forks a little bit, but never worried about it. six months later they snap right off the bike. i didnt actually go over the handlebars because i still had them in my hands when i hit the asphalt.
i had the usual roadrash, but with two busted out top front teeth, busted lip, broken right hand, as well as needing surgery to remove all of the asphalt that had been imbedded into my jaw/gumline after sliding a good thirty feet or so.
the picture is what my teeth looked like three years ago when my caps broke off. i now have pretty porcelain ones.

your kidding! that's hilarious... I just went through a similar situation! crazy... I was riding my bike with this goofy big guy in the valley... well I'm all about safety so of course when we were approaching the busway I had to veer out of the path. riding on the busway is a no no! anyhoo apparently my big oafy friend hits my back wheel as I was safely manuevering out of a potentially harmful and very dangerous situation. I feel a bump and look back to see him tumbling right in front of a bus!! Aside from all the people on the bus laughing he seemed okay.... It was quite a spectacle! I have a chuckle about it here and there. Thing is he skuffed his hand or maybe he broke a bone I don't know... I think that weirdo finally got his cast off though. I saw him making funny faces at girls the other day. what a strange world we live in.

WOW ! the funny thing is right after the accident my buddy felt like it was the appropriate time for him to come outta the closet. i told him that i was real proud of him for doing what he did then he drops another bombshell on me and tells me he wants to get a sex change operation. i told him he'd look weird as a woman being he's 6'8 but he insists' on going thru with it. suffice to say i dont hang around with her/him as much but if he/she ever reads this post i wish her/him good luck with the operation.
