I was riding down venice blvd yesterday when a car swerved out of traffic and into the bike lane. i yelled "bike!!!" but was forced to slam on the breaks and subsequently flew over my handlebars, my life flashing before me. I incredibly landed square on my feet!!! only inches from the car in front of me. I have no idea how this happened! Has anyone heard of this, or had it happen to them?

Yes! It was about a month ago or so. I was in SF, on my way to their critical mass. I got cut off by a car, and both of my escape routes had pedestrians in them. So I locked my brakes and subsequently went flying over the handle-bars. It could have been a classic ENDO. But I landed on my feet. Unfortunately i was going so fast the momentum kept me moving forward. I tried my best to stay on my feet by trying to run. But I couldn't run fast enough. I ended up falling forward, scraping my knees and my palms. I landed right next to the car. I had very little road rash. People helped me up, but I was fine.
It happened so fast, I don't know how I did it.

Old bmx trick.
I've done that more than a few times on my 20" bikes.
Only a few on my road bike. It doesn't always work out on road bikes due to feet getting hooked up in cables.
