Hey - if anyone would like to help with this month's Spoke(n) Art Ride - email me at ubrayj02 @ yahoo.com
This month's ride is coming up this Saturday, September 8, 2007.
If you want some general info about the ride, check out our lame site at:
http://bikeoven.com/spokenart/
We're going to tour a bunch of galleries in North East L.A., by bicycle. These galleries are all open late on this one night every month, on the Second Satruday of the month. You can read more about NELA Art's Second Saturdat here:

Awesome supermasterninjaspy!
The ride needs a few peeps to help the slower riders still hit all the galleries on the tour, and the AFTERPARTY - oh the afterparty- needs to be planned and executed.
Nothing spetacular needed - I am personally partial to lighting stuff on fire and beating it up. There are some kiddie bikes over at Billy's house (from two partys past) in Highland Park - those can get thrown into the mix.
We used to do a race around the 'hood, but now ... notsomuch. Maybe a revival of the Armadillo Rat Race Criterium? We'd need some multiple person coordination to have a fun race that just about everyone can participate in. Or we could scout some new streets, and tell people where to go, and wait for the weiner to come riding in.
Whatchu think?

i've never been to a Spoke(n) Art Ride before, so I will provide help where it is needed. Making sure all riders get to the destinations? I'm there.
Is there a route already established?
And yes, a group effort is needed. I am for burning and bashing as well ;)

supermasterninjaspy is good at making sure no ridazz left behind, cuz she's usually the last one
only if:
a. there are crashes!
b. people who abruplty brake infront of her!
c. riding up barham! damn those hills!!!!
...yeah, she always gets them on all the rides!!!!
other than that she rides faster than I do (I got my own excuses, but they are lamer!)
always glad to help!!! so what needs to be done???

haha. good one.
i think afterparty organizers are much-needed. otherwise, we are just going to be burning and bashing a bunch of stuff.

someone has a weiner bike? or a bike made out of weiners? i'd like to see that one ^_^....
i don't know how to organize races :( - i saw the wolfpack hustle video on this site - the one in the tunnel on Hill and 2nd!!! that was awesome - maybe we can do the race there with kiddie bikes (just kidding) - although i wonder how long it'll take to ride it from one end to the other?????
how about a relay race with teams
musical bike
the telephone game (i think that's what it's called)
etc.....
i can provide prizes & polaroid pics for the winners (weiners) ^_^
i can come up with things to do, but not good at scouting for routes (well, not yet ^_^)

The route ... well, I just draw it on the NELA Art map by hand before we ride - I have a couple of copies on hand, and I pass them out to anyone interested in helping guide the ride.
I'll probably be at the back for some of the time fixing flats, and getting broken bikes moving again.
About the afterparty -- KIDDIE BIKE RELAY RACES! We can hold them on the side street around the corner from the Oven. We've got those traffic cones for a reason. Or how about a an obstacle course?
I also have some water balloons left over from another party we had a while ago. Maybe some sidewalk chalk drawings to direct people?
Pinatas are easy - the shop next door to the Oven has some great ones - I got Hello Kitty the size of a child, w. peanuts, for under $20.
A race ... we need some prizes.
Also: someone to take photos and post them on the web/a blog/ a gallery after the ride - crucial, crucial, crucial in pimping out the beloved NELA Art for fun.
Or we could call it a night at 8 p.m.and get ready for Sunday School the next day. THE CHOICE IS YOURS.

even if it was only the 3 of us, i would definitely attend the race/party - yay more prizes for me!!!
i guess we have to come with something and post it on the site ASAP to get things going.
also, there's the peewee ride that night, but it doesn't start 'til 11pm so i think if we plan it well, peeps will mosdefinitely show up!!!
AT THE OVEN!!! man i have too much free time on my hands!!! this is the last week cuz school has already started!!!!!!!!!

i can take photos ^_^ i don't have a nice professional camera (well not yet), but in combination with the supermasterninjaspy photoshopping skillz, we can come up with some real nice pics.
- just simple color corrections, not any major cosmetic changes (damn!!! poor me)

GREAT IDEA!!! ^_^ if we get the internet running - i can go to school at the oven!!!!!!! haha 2 degrees in one place. that's another service we can offer at the oven. lol
i'll be there as much as i can to regulate:
a. the books
b. the nuts, bolts, and screws which needs to be sorted out
c. anything that needs to be cleaned (except the bathroom!) ^_^
let's plan it well and maybe this can be an ongoing monthly adventure after every Spoke(n) Art Ride!!!

I lost my camera at the Bike Oven during the party. Anyone happen to see an Olympus digital camera in a small black case? I last remembered pulling it out to take a picture of the kiddie bike race.
What an awesome ride, what a turnout and what a party!
Thanks to all the peeps who made it happen,

Jenina and myself came up with the prizes. I hope everyone liked the "human wheelbarrow" race. I had the idea to do it for a while. I'm glad it went well, and my gut still hurts from laughing!
I found no digital camera, but I did find a verizon/Lg cell phone. It has been returned to it's owner, so no claims please.
Glad all of made it!
A great time was had by all.

What an awesome night. fattybombo and supemasterninjaspy threw down big time to ensure A GOOD was had BY ALL - thanks to the Oven crew who worked to get the after party set up and buying all those super awesome radical prizes. I hated to see all those Clay Aiken bobbleheads go - but that is the nature of prize give aways.
For me the high point was either: a quick stop at a taco cart on Avenue 50 before the party OR getting hit in the head with someone's shoe. I'm not sure which, probably because one of the two knocked me on my ass pretty hard.
The human wheelbarrow race was intense - enough shenanigans to fill a small zine, or an entire evening.
Too bad about Estephan C. yakking watermelon.
It sounds like someone walked off with a home electronics starter kit: digi cam and an ipod. WTF? Next time we'll just call it the "Steal Our Electronics Now Bitches" ride, and everyone will have on helmet cams and be carrying their cuete.
