Woohoo ! TGF for Cub Camping. It feels like it was only yesterday we were talking about doing a sleep away vers. of Cubcamping, and it is already the end of August. Time is flying by ! Yosemite, or the SM mountains could be lots of fun. Are we looking at a date at the moment or an ideal period of days ?
Ojai's 80 miles from Santa Monica! thats probably a lot of riding for most (but I am down if yall are). The original idea was 50 miles to McGrath state park, but I think we should go somewhere a little bit higher on the awesome scale. Any of the above-mentioned sites within 50miles and awesome??
you guys realize the trip was to BIKED right??
the idea was a Saturday dayride, rock out Sat night, dayride home..you guys want to DRIVE somewhere..?? (marcus is raising one eyebrow)
"the locals" are about three people.
i didnt realize the trip was meant to be biked. if you want you can park your respective vehicles in ventura and ride the bike path up to ojai. it could coincide with another shangri-la showdown or something?
second weekend in october?. it will be chilly at night. but we will have fire. we are staying at lake casitas (pictured to the side).
the plan is to put all the camping gear that you bring into my car in ventura and then my friend will drive the car to the lake and we will take the scenic route to camp. i hope that works out for everyone.
I don't need to bring anything, but my bike.
As y'all already know, I keep everything and the kitchen sink in my trusty hip pack, or attached to it.
Since Victimville is at least 150 miles away from any of the given sites, I guess I'll have to throw on my High Plains Drifter garb.
Stranger-"Why did she decide to get mad at me now?"
Mordecai-"Guess 'cause you didn't come back for more."
Watched that movie for like the 50th time last night in case any were wondering.
nah i dont think they are biking from wherever to ventura.
also, i think the second week in october conflicts with pier pressure. i dont want to do that at all.
PC, if you're down, we can ride from Santa Monica to Ventura. I have no idea how far it it/long it will take, but I'm always down for an adventure. So long as someone else can take our camping stuff up there.
I just watched the movie Bikecar, and it inspired me to have a old old-fashioned road adventure.
However, there is no chance I'm missing Pier Pressure. Ain't gunna happen.
