So I think I might be buying a taser soon. Just wondering if this is a good idea. Due to recent bike jackings in the community and the neighborhood I kinda want to buy one for protection. Thoughts? Opinions?
A taser is actually considered a loaded firearm and thus is illegal where a loaded firearm is illegal. You would be far better off pursuing pepper spray for protection.

Looking into my CCW for the recent explosion in meth-heads and displaced brigands that have flooded the desert due to cheap housing.
Since they all like to fight in packs and deputy response time is laughable(more like busy setting up revenue-enhancement stings) I'll keep a Glock-26 in mind when it comes to the issue of self-defense and property protection.
As per blades, I'll admit that they don't run out of ammunition.
However, crossbow bolts and longbow arrows are reusable in the desired scenario.

I like that it's a foam and not a spray or fog, it's easy to hit your target accurately indoors or outdoors. It won't contaminate an entire room. This makes it ideal for use in confined spaces like homes, shops, offices and parking garages.
And you don't need to get the big cans either,not like you need to spray a dood twice,that's sadistic! :P
Also the big bottles aren't available for californians...

With my guard registration I could legally purchase the pistol grip, Mk.9 bottles that could either disperse the foam or fog.
However, CA legislature seems to be too protective of criminals when it comes to defending ones self from their actions.
Kill or maim someone on your own property here if they were caught trespassing and willingly causing harm to your self, family, or valuables, you end up getting thrown into the tank until whenever a judge decides if force was reasonable or not.
If I ever had the attention span to get into law-school, I would be so dis-barred if I ever got onto criminal defense.
When buying a stun gun, you should probably get one that is smaller in size so as to minimize the damage done to your rectum when the angered thug takes it from you and sticks it up your ass (sideways).
A real TASER will take down a grown man instantly. But when a thug is in your face and you pull out that silly stun gun, he's gonna laugh.
I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm being realistic. If I was planning on attacking you, I don't think that I would have a problem getting that thing out of your hand, Palucha. Especially if I was armed with a bat or something.
Pepper spray would probably be more effective (assuming you don't miss). Do you think that you will be able to aim with precision when a PCP smoking, golf-ball-eyed, gangster is looking at you to see if you got anything worth taking?
Firearms and electro-shock weapons aside, I'll say that a good can of mace and a few pairs of cuffs will do wonders on a budget for someone Paluchas age.
But as always, ask if the chemical agent vendor offers or knows of sanctioned training courses.
As for the handcuffs, concurrently enroll in a PC 832 "Laws of Arrest" course.
They drill proper handcuffing technique into your head until it pops.

Personally I'd rather get down and dirty when I find myself in that kind of situation.
Sorry, but pulling a trigger just cannot compare to the personal satisfaction of feeling bones breaking and crunching under your fist or your heel or your elbows etc .
Make yourself The Weapon instead of relying on one.

Well, give us a martial arts with moves that aren't so complicated and you got yourself a deal.
Losing a fight is one thing, but losing work days and racking up hospital bills due to possible internal damage from blunt force trauma is something that makes projectile weaponry more of a value against a potential aggressor.
Then there's also the fact that it usually takes years of proper training and situational encounters to hone a martial arts skill into an effective tactic.
But, if you're a master at whichever particular art you've been disciplined in and have actually sparred against random attackers as opposed to session participants, then more power to you.
ie., instead of sparring in a dojo, practice the moves with the experienced and then spar against random aggressors you run across.
Now that's the type of training program I would go for.

I even considered the hydrophobicity of proteins…proteins are hydrophobic because they are -mostly- apolar and water is polar…..but the same can be said about ethanol…it is polar -less than water but still polar...
