Kyoto Protocol

For those interested, the United States is now the only nation left in the world which refuses to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. This is news because Australia just had elections and the conservative party got BOOTED right out of power.
Australia will no longer be Bush's lap dog, which pleases me immensely because I no longer have to be embarrassed about my home country. OK, only mildly embarrassed. The dimwits back home managed to let John Howard be Prime Minister for 11 embarrassing years, and it'll take a while to live that down. We're pulling our troops out of Iraq and we're ratifying the Kyoto Protocol at last.
Why is this relevant to us here in the US? Well the US can no longer point fingers at Australia and say "well they aren't doing it and neither will we". Pressure on Bush, that's a good thing.

Don't feel bad. Over here, for the last 19 years we've elected nothing but Bushes or Clintons, and we may be gearing up to do it again in 2008.

Huh.....I thought the queen's face was on the dollar over there.
And all this time I thought Australia was a British lapdog.
I'm not saying I disagree with you. I'm just enlightened.
