I was at my local 99 cent store this week, and I found a groovy red flashing safety light. I thought that if this store had them, perhaps other locations will also have a supply.
Lots of times the quality of 99 cent store merchendise is a bit lacking, but I bought a light anyway. I used it on the Ride-arc ride last night and was impressed. It flashed (as well as 6 other modes), it was red and it was acceptably bright. Not bad at all for a buck.
But wait, there's more! The light comes with the two AAA batteries needed to power it.
I found mine at the store in Anaheim on Lincoln and Knott, but with luck, you may find them in your local shop.
Check it out.

Sounds good.
But, I lost my seventh tail-light in the last two years, yesterday.
A sweet, BlackBurn watchamacallit, that cost me 16 bucks.
One thing I hate about the high-priced taillights is the fact that you spend up to 40bucks on these things, but they only come with a damned seat-post mount.
Nothing wrong with creating your own things, but for just once, I want to be able to attach one of these onto my rack without having to Macguyver my own mount.
It's like the manufacturers think that everyone is a recreational HipTard, pretending to be uber-hard, but cry when their latte gets spilled.ahhhh!
2-3-4, breathe.

I have bought several of said $0.99 lights and have found that the contacts inside loose there "springy-ness" after a while. Adjusting the tension with a small flat blade only works once or twice before the batteries finaly just fall out.
Regardless, still a good buy..

i bought 3 of those flashers from the 99 cent store. i wire tied one to my seat post clamp and have 2 on my camelpak. i went back to get more but they were sold out. it would of been cheaper to buy more lights that to buy new batteries.
