No good deed goes unpunished and so it happened last night!!
I think we should think about those folks who display that level of indiscretion.
A guy stays behind to help someone who should have spent the night 'somewhere else' and the helper loses his bike - that's not right!!
The other matter is image. Is that what we are all about. So folks let's not get so drunk we can't stand up let alone ride a bike. That guy was nearly run over twice. once by a bus and a car!!
You might think i'm an ass-hole, but if i ever get to high or drunk, and you try to give me advice, I'LL TAKE IT NO MATER HOW HIGH OR DRUNK I AM, i always stop my self from becoming a burden to the crew, let alone have 5-O stopping me and maybe finding whats in my bag, i'm sadden to hear about the bike that was stolen, this person gave me respect and conversation all last night, it never became boring, so i'm more-so concerned.
Honestly I think the take home lesson from last night (and people only make this mistake once if ever...) Is that SoCo (Southern Comfort) IS NOT, and SHOULD NOT be consumed like Smirnoff Ice...
Not only that but lets talk about what happened on friday. Im not saying its wrong to drink and ride your bike cuz ive done it myself, but atleast try and control the drinking so that you dont put yourself and others in danger.
a cabbie had strict instructions not to pick up drunk people. Gary, on the ride, a cabbie as well, said they won't take drunks cuz they may puke in the cab. that dude was so drunk it was worse than sloppy....we could easily gathered enough cash to get him home in the cab.
he was worse than jeff the drunk (below) falling all over the place, knocking over bikes, saying "i'm ok, i can ride"...ya right..
A drunk....at the unemployed ride?you don't say..........................HAHAHAhahahaha,but no really,it does suck that some one had their bike stolen while helping a fellow human being, the fact that this human (the drunk one)had made a bad decision of the mass consumption of a tasty liver killer juice is irrelevant (except to that individual ,and their own relationship with what was a healthy liver),but rather the loss of the good citizens bike.
The guy was drunk already at our first stop, Turners Liquor on Sunset and Doheny. By the time we turned onto Santa Monica off La Brea, he was way too drunk to ride let alone walk.
Someone is going to get hurt. I mean seriously hurt. Unlike a drunk driver who can kill people, a drunk bicyclist will be the one to get killed.
We shouldn't wait for a dead bicyclists to take some type of corrective action.
Let's encourage responsible drinking....or else a bicyclists brains will be splattered on the asphalt.
I agree with you. After what happened this weekend with bikes being stolen and people going to hospitals, we should stop and think before we start drinking like a fish at a ride. Because it can happen to anybody. You can be riding behind some drunk and next thing you know your on the ground.
