 Dear Sheldon Brown:

I've been invited to a friend's daughter's bat mitzvah ceremony, but the invitation didn't say anything about how to dress. I am not Jewish (although I respect and admire the work of Jerry Seinfeld and I think that the Holocaust was totally uncalled for), thus I have no idea what to wear. Suit and tie? Slacks and a sweater? I'm embarrassed to ask my friend. What should I do?
