CBR Criterium : Sunday

This Sunday the
CBR is hosting a criterium bike race. I'm planning to enter, for my first experience at a sanctioned bicycle race. I know it's rather last minute to be asking, but would anyone of comparable speed to my self, who would be in the Cat V level for novices, be interested in joining me as a team, as I'm sure most riders there will be teamed up. Preferably someone I've ridden with before, so we would have experience ridding together already. If not no worries, I'm really just entering for the learning experience.
If anyone who has raced in this type of event before has any words of wisdom, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, I might have a road bike by then. It would probably not be a good idea for me to enter this til I got used to the new bike, but I'm thinking about it.
Fast. I like fast.

I've got to try one of these at least once.
See if all the workouts I've been doing the last, two years will be worth their salt for something like this.
But, I need to get me a skinny-tire as well, first.

if you want to wait until you have a new bike to race, you might think about entering the garrett lemire memorial grand prix in ojai. it isnt for another few months. www.glmgp.com

Good luck, Gary!
I know you will perform most awesomely, as you are Mercury on two wheels.

Good luck, Gary. I'd like to but I just don't have the legs yet.
(It would be fun to see some of the stronger Ridazz hop on steel bikes with downtube shifters and kick some ass in a crit.)

I may enjoy a little 30 minute race, if you think I can keep up.

Although pre-registration was announced to be open until the 24th, it looks like it had filled up already for the Cat V race. I guess I'll have to wait until next time, and make sure to sign up further in advance. The next in CBR series is Feb 17th.

Next time may be sooner than you think. Check out the USCF races at www.scnca.com. There is a race almost every weekend. Try a road race before a crit. Road races are much safer. If you must do a crit. as your first race try to do a few tight pack rides before. Also work on cornering at 25-27 mph. It is not as easy as one thinks with riders all around you.

I'm planning to do the CBR race too. Just go for it man. Look for my 63cm celeste Bianchi. I don't have a team either so maybe we can team up on those fools.

So why don't we organize a lil Midnight Ridazz Crit Crew. I have been eager to race, but I lack a team to actually contend. I do not expect to win straight out the hole, but some of us Ridazz have some serious legs. Maybe a weekday/weekend training reg.
I also agree with RBI. A road race would be a good start. Build up to close quarters racing... Anyone down?

I'm preregistered already for Cat V in the next CBR Crit on Feb 17th, so I'm not missing out this time. If anyone of comparable ability would like to team up, let me know.
