AIDS LIFECYCLE SIGNUPS

If anyone here is on the fence about signing up for
AIDS LIfeCycle in June, Team Midnight Ridazz encourages and invites you to SIGN UP NOW, as there may be limited spots left for the ride.
The San Francisco registration is CLOSED, and word on the street is that L.A. isn't that far behind filling up.
If you are unsure, just do it. Even if you can't make the ride, at least your registration fee still goes to a great cause.

Also if you can't bike it this year you can volunteer as a roadie, TEAM Mr has ONE roadie and we'd love to have more, there is no fundraising minimum for roadies so think about it! Support TEAM MR.

I'm really thinking about it.
I'm think I can actually do the ride, but am a bit concerned about the money end.
How does it work raising money as a group?
How much is the entry fee up front?

To answer some questions asked earlier:
Registration fee is $75, and unfortunately, you've missed the various opportunities to get a discounted reg fee. But it goes to a great cause.
Fundraising obligation is $2500. Without $2500, you don't ride.
Officially, there is no group fundraising. All donations must be assigned to a single rider. However, there has been a suggestion on the team MR mailing list that after raising the minimum, individuals should try to raise money for other team members until everyone has reached the minimum. There wasn't much discussion of it that I saw, but it seems like a good idea. I'm not in this thing for bragging rights. I just think it is a great cause and looks like a ton of fun, to boot.
If you are wondering about where the money goes, the ride is in its 7th year since it was taken over by the very charities that used to be its beneficiaries. So instead of paying lots of high-dollar salaries to a private organization, which then distributes money to the 2 charities, every penny goes directly where it is needed most, though there are certainly still salaries to be paid and such. Still, it is pretty efficient. More importantly, while I don't have detailed knowledge of their operations, it appears that the two organizations (gay, lesbian community center in LA and the SF AIDS foundation) offer an absolute ton of support to the HIV-positive community and that the epidemic would have been so much worse in both cities without their help. In short, every dollar has a direct impact on the lives of those living with HIV and AIDS. Additionally, the looming recession and california budget crisis means that their needs are only going to increase over the coming year or two as government funding dries up. SO this is your chance to make a really big difference and have fun on a bike while you're at it.

Randy,
I was with Kerry tonight and she said they will still accept new riders this week but she thinks they will close shortly thereafter, so anyone still considering the ride gets an extra day or two to get on board.

I just got an email from ALC, and it turns out that tomorrow is one last opportunity to get a discounted registration fee. Here's the content from the email:
We would like to invite you to an AIDS/LifeCycle Information Meeting this Thursday, January 31st at 7pm. The meeting will be held at the offices of AIDS/LifeCycle in Hollywood. Our office is located at 1125 N. McCadden Place, suite 202, one block east of Highland, just north of Santa Monica Blvd. Free parking is available in the lot directly across the street.
This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about the ride and during this info meeting we will be offering $20 off of our regular registration rate of $75! This is a perfect time to kick off your training and register to ride with us in June.
