Hey guys.. I need your advice.
A friend of mine who rarely rides her bike but very much wants to try out a midnight ridazz ride is thinking of joining this ride BUT... the last time i went on this 2nd-friday-of-every-month-ride, it started out somewhat medium paced and ended up being quite fast and there wasn't a stop for quite a long time.
Is it going to be the same? She is somewhat scared she won't be able to keep up and I don't blame her. Will there be a stop every so often? Do people still run red lights so stragglers get perpetually left behind more and more? Anyway, just trying to get a feel for what the rides are like lately.
It's interesting to note how we've gotten faster overall, as the years have passed, in general, and maybe we don't realize newcomers may feel discouraged. What do you all think?

I believe she can handle this. 2nd Fridays are supposed to be pretty flexible to new riders. I trust July will be making this happen even though he is a frigging mental case that needs to be locked up forever, but I digress...

I had conviced a total of 8 friends to ride last night, 5 of which was there FIRST group ride (and one was their first time riding a bike since childhood)... They are all in love.
This was like one of those dream rides for a newcomer. The fact that we stayed around downtown and stopped at red lights helped the group stick together very well. And downtown has really traffic signals really close together.
I don't think I've ever been on a ride that's stayed in DT the entire time, what an awesome tour!! Loved the spiral rooftop parking lot, I've never gone up one of those things in 4 years of biking. There seemed to be people sporadically crashing here and there which was kind of sucky, hopefully no one got fractures or anything. :p

Thank you to everyone for making this ride one of the best I've ever put together. Me and Norma really took the time to not just make it a ride, but more of an event, where it wasn't just about drinking at the stops. Thank you so much. I remember my first 2nd Friday ride and it's what got me hooked so I'm stoked to hear that the new riders might have been bit by the same bug that bit me.
The Soul Train line to remember the late great Don Cornelius was the highlight of the night for me.
