I Am the Ninja: Bicycle Ride and Battle
Where:
Atomic Cycles
17322 Saticoy
Van Nuys, Ca 91406
When:
Friday, December 16th 8:00 pm
We will ride at 8:30 to the battlground, a slow paced two miles or so cruise.
You will be given a foam sword and shuriken (throwing stars). These will be your weapons.
Once we arrive at the battleground you will be given boundaries and we will ride off into the night for a glorious ninja battle, may the
strongest ninja prevail!
Rules for combat:
1. If you are ever more than 10 feet from your bicycle, you are declared “dead” and must return to the start.
2. Any hit to the head or body with shuriken or sword counts as a kill, dead ninjas must walk with their bike back to the start.
3. Any two hits to any two limbs or the same limb twice will constitute a kill, the dead ninja must return to the start, walking their bike.
4. It’s an honor system, ninjas are very honorable so please don’t cheat by not taking your hits.
5. Each round lasts ½ hour or until all ninjas are dead. You must keep moving on your bike and only dismount to have combat. This keeps
the action going and reduces lag in the game.
We will do a free-for-all and perhaps some team battles. Don’t’ worry if you get taken out earily, we will reset and re-play as many times as
you wish.

It would make it hard for you to attack in melee but yes.

I recommend a 20" bmx or single speed mountain bike for speed and maneuverability.
Bring your "A" game.

This sounds so fun! But would just a headband or a mask count as a ninja costume?

You can bring your own. However there's a basic rule that you shouldn't bring something that you would not be willing to be hit with. I provide weapons because I don't expect people to bring their own, if I make it easy to participate then we'll have more people.
I have about 20 swords, a few axes and a mess of shurikens.

I don't expect you to be looking like the lead actor in American Ninja 4 or some shit, just do what you can with what you can, at least make some sort of effort is all I'm asking (that may be too much). My costume is made up of various things, not official Ninja attire but will pass muster. You won't be dissuaded from participation if your costume is sub-par, I'd hope one would get in the spirit of the thing, but alas there is only one Joe Borfo, we all can't bring it like he does.

There were about 8-10 brave ninjas that battled. We did three sets, I forgot the guy who won the second one but I won two out of the three, I think we tied or were close in the number of kills total we got.
We had all kinds of great skirmishes, ambushes, throwing stars being hurled with deadly accuracy in the night and one was even blocked by a sword! Amazing. The dark played tricks on you, was that a wheel? Did I see something move? Is that a bush...or someone...?? At one point I thought I saw a bear in Balboa park, no joke, you all know I'm mr. clean so I was not on something, it was that guy I just killed pushing his bike back to the start.
I'd like to do it again if there's interest, for it was a truly amazing fun time.
