On April 22nd 1pm, the
Midnight Ridazz AIDS LifeCycle team will be hosting a bike wash fundraiser. @ the
BRW to the west, and the
Bike Oven to the east.
Impress the sexy gals and guys @ your next social ride with how damn shiny and clean your bike is. Roll up to C.R.A.N.K. Mob in style, with a look and sheen that exudes confidence.
More details to be announced.

If you roll up to CRANK MOB on anything nice and shiny you are setting yourself up for a fall when you wake up in a puddle of your puke next to a filth covered tricycle you stole out of someone's backyard (and I don't mean the space behind their house.)

also,
....cubcamp won't be there, with our dirty bikes, after riding untold numbers of miles.
so, if you're not riding with cubcamp, you should either be at BRW or BC, seriously guise!

I'm going to see if I can't get all of that ShatterDay off.
The idea of a bike-wash is better than the washes I've seen up here.
Just hope the people I'm bringing to CRANKMob will be down with this.
I've got quite a tough crowd to please up here.

Two questions:
1. Who's gonna be at which location?
and
2. 1pm til when?
mr rollers03.17.08 - 9:38 pm
reply
I'm not sure I have the authority to answer these questions, but seeing as both my answers are inconclusive, I don't see the harm.
1. iunno... I know that so far at the Bike Oven we've got Randy, Johanna, Richard, and myself... and that so far the Bikerowave is featuring Mehgan, Gary, Franz, and Cathy. The rest is a surprise!!! And everyone loves surprises!
2. uuuhhh... i dunno that either. I'm assuming until we're sure nobody else is coming. OR wait... isn't there a ride from the Bike Oven wash to CRANK MOB or something? Did I totally make that up. Somebody help me out here... Well, if I didn't make that up, the wash would end in time for us to ride to CRANK MOB...
I'm soooo gonna get my ass kicked by somebody who actually has it together, aren't i...
BUT what I do know is:
There will be ladies.
There will be slippery sudsy water.
...there will be slippery sudsy ladies.
There will be shiny bicycles.
There will be lube.
And I mean honestly, what else do you need to know?

Oh, I'm there for sure! Even though my bike's not that dirty, it looks like a fine opportunity to support a good cause and have fun . . . I figure I'll hit the Oven since it's more in my neck of the woods.

is there a guarantee or something that comes with this bike wash? like, say my bike gets all clean and then it starts raining on the way to crank mob and it gets dirty again. what happens?
ruinedbyidiots03.18.08 - 9:24 am
reply
the same thing that happens when I offer RBI a ride to San Diego in exchange for gas and grass:
nothing.
spiraldemon03.18.08 - 9:47 am

My bike probably needs a good, dousing after all the riding through the countless rains and sandstorms up here in the desert.
Last time I literally, washed it, was when I rode through a car-wash up in Sacramento at 2AM.

mr. rollers: yaaay! See you there! And don't worry, I've also been asking those questions... they are worth knowing.
stevo: I can't guarantee anything... but... I can take a guess that Franz will not disappoint.
rbi: umm... perhaps the above can distract you from any misfortunate incident you may experience post-wash.

1.) Roster that Liz mentioned is what it will probably be, but should more on the team volunteer or some one has to bail, than it is subject to change. There will be ladies and gentlemen at both locations. Equal opportunity sexy washings.
2.) Bike Oven closes at 4pm, so wash will probably continue until then. Details haven't been worked out, but the plan is to have a ride from Oven to West Side for CRANK Mob. Bikerowave washes may continue later since the BRW will be open for CRANK Mob costume making session.

My bike was pretty clean when the week started, but a 40 mile round trip to the beach and a few other assorted rides took care of that; it's filthy now and in need of a good cleaning.
So I'll be at the Oven tomorrow gettin' my bike washed and ready to take pictures of you and your sexy clean bikes!
Archival quality prints available for a small donation to this good cause.
