Pretty amazing to even think that there's a place where they would even perceive a need for this; maybe we'll see it here someday? This would certainly solve the bike theft and vandalism problem.
I did recognize the words "high-tech" and "elevator".
when i was in Osaka there were just these crazy lines and lines of bikes on the street. Occasionally I would se a truck from the city impounding dozens and dozens of bikes that had been illegally parked (freelocked with a kickstand).
Any mall with a street entrance would see more bikes piled up than a MR stop at a 7-11.
The other crazy thing is that bikes arn't even really locked up.
Almost every bike is "secured" with a tiny little bar that goes through the back wheel to prevent riding off. simple push button combination releases the bar.
I guess bike theft is extremely uncommon. The most common case, I've heard is a drunkard who missed the last train and "borrows" a bike to ride home ... often returning the bike the next day.
