I'm beginning to notice alot of fast-paced rides popping up all of a sudden.
Are people feeling lazy and wanting to burn some burritos?
Or, is there some type of hi-speed, two-wheeled stampede planned for the not-too-distant future?
reply
Despite my nature, I always preferred, "Give Me One Reason".
Had that good, ole country-vibe that was akin to floating down the lazy river.

I think that even the "social" rides are getting faster. Sometimes I feel sorry for the noobs.

I think it's great. More fast rides = better stronger faster cyclists on the streets = more respect for cyclists as a presence on the streets.
I find that when I ride fast and assert my position on the road cars fuck with me less. when you are timid drivers dont take you as seriously.
I hate to see the party rides get too fast for fear that noobs will be discouraged so hopefully these fast rides will let everyone blow off some steam and the party rides will remain chill and fun and the gteway that they are...

Perhaps we should have a tractor-pull involved.
The faster people are already riding some lighter rigs, but how much weight do they actually carry/pull?

Only "fast-paced" ride I've been on is Juggernauts.
On my mtb, I kept up with those guys for most of the ride, but usually ended up spinning out on flats and such.

Try Laharr's Bag when fully stocked with road sodas.

laharr and fuzzbeast both carry full tool sets in their bags. as well as cases of beer and in some instances dslrs.

If we ever happen upon a semi-truck teetering on the edge of a freeway bridge, just hit up laharr to place his bag on the street side of the truck to prevent it from falling over the side.

-Heh, heh.
That might be me again one of these days.

It's evolution... you get tired of drinking and riding the same thing all the time. So, people start trying new shit. Going faster, building tall bikes, choppers, tunes... whatever. It's people exploring all aspects cycling has to offer and finding their place.

Hi, noob here. The social rides aren't too fast imo. I ride a heavy BMX and usually have a fair amount of crap in my bag.
That said, I agree there's more fast rides being posted lately. Time for a faster bike? :P

The next Midnight Ridazz (Apr. 11th) is going to be slow. But it will be a Danny Zuko route, for those who understand what that means.
Joe Borfo04.4.08 - 5:12 pm

Um... what does that mean exactly? I mean, I know, but some others might not. Or something.
bananaphone04.4.08 - 5:29 pm

It means you should put your helmet on your bicycle.

@canadienne
-I see whatcha mean right there.
Been quite awhile since I last did anything fast-related.
The Juggernaut rides were pretty bad-ass, but then I decided to save resources for the larger, socially inclined, party rides that happen every, few weeks.
I'm guessing the only reason I feel concerned is the long-standing, fact that nothing really happens in my neck of the woods.
Yeah, we've got that Victor Valley Bicycle Club up here, but all those guys strictly ride during the day, and don't seem to know the meaning of "re-group point".
And the building of my own MR-faction up here is still a work in progress.
In fact, with myself wanting to get back behind the wheel of a
big-rig, I'm doubting as to whether it would even be wise to start something up, then move away.
Oh, well.
I think I'm just spontaneously spouting due to an abnormal, load of overtime and a shift change during this week.

bentstrider,
Do you listen to any hip-hop? Whenever I listen to Kool Keith's "Diesel Truckers", I think of you honking at hoochies coming off the expressway in an 18 wheeler. I'll hook you up with a copy if you're into that kind of music at all. It's hilarious, really.

@bananaphone
Plz, definitely hook me up at the next ride I'll be able to make.
I've got weekends off now, so either CRANK Mob, or a CruzWithUs will do the trick.
Unfortunately, it'll be some time before I'm able to get back into the rig, but when I do, you'll be on the list of ride-alongs!!!

Glo Ride is mandatory, route be damned.
Bentstrider, I'll have a copy of Diesel Truckers in my bag if/when I see ya.

@chiquitatelecom
-Cool.
Hopefully, I'll make the Glo-Ride next weekend.
One of the dipshits at work wants me to cover for him the following Saturday, so he could spend time with his kids.
I don't have any, so he's asking the wrong person.
I'll just say I went into pancreatic coma, and not show up Saturday.
