So I'm riding home going East on Wilshire through Beverly Hills and I decide to take a left hand turn to stop at the CVS on Doheny and Wilshire. I use my left hand to make funny little signals indicating to drivers behind me that I'm moving left. The drivers are like "okay, go ahead little bicyclist." and I move into the left hand turn lane with no problems. Yay! Now I'm doing my best yuppie trackstand in the middle of the intersection waiting for a gap in oncoming traffic so that I can turn left onto Doheny. I see a Beverly Hills Police Department SUV coming my direction and I suddenly get that cyclist's intuition like something's about to go down. As the BHPD vehicle passes, the officer in the car is glaring at me and yells "What the hell are you doing???" because I'm in the middle of the intersection.
Ummmmm... okay. Seriously, who trains these guys?
Remember that cyclist in Bev Hills last year who got harassed by the car for taking the left turn lane and when the police arrived, the officer took the car's side in the argument?
I reeeeeally wanted this particular cop to turn around and try to ticket me cuz I travel with the CVC 21202 in my bag now and I would have schooled him sooooo hard!

Wait. Let me get this straight.
A cop yells, "What the hell are you doing?" at you ... and then keeps on driving away? ...
I don't get it. If he thought you were doing something illegal, why didn't he stop you? And if he knew you were within the law, why did he yell in the first place? That makes no sense whatsoever.

If I'm not mistaken, there have a been a handful of cyclist / cop altercations lately all around the city. Maybe word is getting around in cop circles that bikers have been causing trouble so their attitude is going downhill.

You sure he wasn't yelling 'Seriously, Guy(s), What's going on'? Or, Why are you riding bike(s)? Response: For F.U.N., etc.
He might have just been envious that you were on a bike and he was stuck in a car, day after day.

Unless he comes towards you and barks an order at you, I wouldn't even pay any mind.
But, of course I've probably had orders barked to me from San Berdo Sheriff's plenty of times and I was too busy riding and listening to some crazy mash-up to hear.
You could say that's illegal in and of itself right there, but I have yet to care.

Whoah! a "yuppie trackstand".............get it straight....edge.
I was at a red light in my car once with a cop stopped on the other side of the intersection in the oncoming lane. Right before the light turns green he gets on the PA and yells, "Get a front license plate."
We both drove past eachother like nothing happened.
Thas all.

every time I see Kieron doing anything, I ask myself "what the hell is this guy doing?" so, not surprised that cop was thinking same.

I was accosted by a cop the other evening while I was riding west on Sunset. He pulled across 4 lanes of traffic to ask me what kind of headlight I was using and where he could get one (NiteRider Trinewt)
