I could win $50 and free pizza for doing what I always do.
Yay!
Is anyone else's work doing anything to encourage commuting by bike?

Damn, the board hates pics that have special characters I guess?

Damn, if only I got that type of treatment in these parts.

Actually, I like Jeronimo's comment elsewhere on many levels:
"I bike to work every day. Why the fuck would I need to celebrate a bunch of dickheads who only do it once a year?"

Heh, indeed.
I just kinda dig the irony in my employer giving me swag and holding a raffle and shit just for riding my bike to work. Suckers.

OK you are missing the point. It ain't really about you.
If you do it all the time you are a special human being and I applaud you.
But the rest the world needs the help support and incentive to do it.
So how about pitchin in and working to get your co-workers on bikes instead of telling us all how cool you are and bitching about how your bosses are suckers.

Well, with the weather conditions up here, among other things, it's like telling a little brat to eat their vegetables.
It's also hurting matters due to the fact that 60-70% of everyone in the desert works in either the IE, or the LA Basin.
Cajon Pass could kiss my ass for all I care.
It's the death of us all.

I just passed this on to my HR Dept.
I don't think we should glorify something that makes sense, but I do think we need to bring it people's attention. And it's the same people who get excited about some stupid free pizza and a raffle that need the most convincing.

@ Drew,
I guess I deserved that, but there's good reason for my initial tone. I've actually only been riding to work for about 3 months now, but when I started everyone except for one person in my department thought I was crazy. Turns out the one other person is a former LA Wheelman and began riding to work again once they saw I was.
Disney's Commuter Program is actually pretty damn nice, and one of the only real perks for working for a company this large. And while I do encourage coworkers to ride their bikes almost daily, it mostly falls on deaf ears, and even events like this one are largely ignored. Hence my cynicism.
Apologies if I came off like a bike snob/insenstive clod/etc. Wouldn't be the first time.
