Where can I get a cheap bike?

I have a beach cruiser, but I am going to start taking the metro to Pasadena on a daily basis for school and I am not taking my car.
I need a light bike that I can take on the subway. Any suggestions? I am no rich girl.

Go to the Bikerowave, Bike Kitchen or the Bike oven. They will assist you in building a bike from used parts and frames, to your specification. If you are not able to invest the time to build a bike, Craigslist is also an option. For a new bike, go to a small owner/operated store, like Athena bicycles in Studio city, tell them your financial limitations and they will assist you.

@ zbravestchicken
do you need a bike that is
legal to take on the subway during rush hour like a foldie or you need a light bike so that you can carry it up and down the subway stairs?
Another option would be two cheapo bikes. One locked up in Pasadena, the other downtown? or wherever you get on the subway.
Do they have bike lockers in Pasadena?
