Hey all, I don't ride much out towards the downtown, or beyond downtown, can anyone recommend some of the better/safer routes for a girl riding from the West side to Occidental college and back?
Thx.

... get to Sunset, heading East until you get to Silverlake Blvd [Sunset Junction]. Go left, down the hill (Parkman Ave), to Silverlake Blvd, Left on Silverlake Blvd. Take it all the way to Glendale Blvd. Left on Glendale Blvd. Right on Fletcher Dr. It eventually turns into Ave 36. Keep going, over the bridge to Eagle Rock Blvd. Left on Eagle Rock Blvd. Right on any street AFTER York Blvd. They all take you to OXY.
Again:
East on Sunset
Left on Parkman Ave
Left on Silverlake Blvd
Left on Glendale Ave
Right on Fletcher Dr
becomes Ave 36
Left on Eagle Rock Blvd
Right AFTER York Blvd
You'll be in Tren Way territory. You can pass, just don't wear your colors.

If you're coming from lower on the Westside:
Venice Blvd. is pretty easy to downtown. There's a bike lane much of the way. Then up through downtown on Main; hop over to Broadway at Alpine or College and then up across the across the river. Turns into Pasadena Ave. Left on Ave 26. Then hop over to Ave 28 at Figueroa. That'll take you to Cypress. Another bike lane on that. Then Eagle Rock Blvd. = another bike lane. Eagle Rock Blvd. to York as Dak said.

Possibly also helpful, if you haven't already looked at it:

It looks similar to what Rev. Dak has proclaimed, but here's my take on it charted at bikely.com:

Thanks all!!! Much appreciated. My girl is braving the ride because doing it in a car blows so much.
