That dude with the tallbike at all the NoHo rides was asking me for one of those old-West ones and I got it.
Hit me up at bentstrider@gmail.com.
I guess someone caught wind of my spaghetti-Western fascination.

I haven't been able to find awesome shoulder gun holsters that I want. And this gives me only two posts left

We've never done a wild west ride...

(The western ride that is, not cap guns. Bringing cap guns on rides sounds like a bad idea to me.)

(Mostly just because I can imagine cops sort of freaking out and overreacting if they start seeing guns in peoples' hands.)

(Unless, you know, we all had cowboy hats on and it was all thematic-like.)

Nah, I just went to Phoenix a few, days ago and picked up a couple of them.
They actually still sell them at Wal Mart and a few, select places in Arizona.
I remember when they sold them here, but after awhile, people started becoming sensitive to the gun violence issue, and as a result, stopped selling them.
But as far as actual cap guns go, I remember getting this bad-ass looking one that resembled an 1844 Navy Colt.
I got that thing when I was nine, then some other kid jacked it from me about a year later.

Maybe, when Steph gets back in town, she can organize it.....? You know, as an offshoot of the Mosey..... It's the closest thing we've got right now to a western ride.
(Yay for volunteering other people to do work!)

I love this idea. Maybe some of us can dress like the unabomber or a terrosit too! lol.

I take it, from this thread, that cap guns are no longer legal (or legal to be sold) in CA? Will the safety nazis eventually strip us of everything that could possibly be fun? No wonder kids spend all their time playing with virtual guns in video games.
Next they'll ban origami because of the risk of paper cuts or catching a paper airplane in your eye.

Perhaps it isn't so much that they're illegal, but most stores are trying to make themselves appear uber-liberal and waaaaaay to family-friendly at the same time.
What liberalism and anti-gun advocacy have to do with each other, I don't even want to know.
As far as where they're sold in CA, I'm guessing places like the gift-shops at theme/recreational parks, and prop-stores in movie-land.

It
happened in spades.
My god, looking over the pictures reminds me that we saw as much creativity in that one ride as we;d see in five themed rides today. I am not exaggerating. Archery with broken bike spokes, a rope swing "bike hanging," a freakbike rodeo, a shootout, a secret hideout... In addition to the handmade spoke cards, people got to keep rubber band guns that were made from discarded bike parts. Such genius is truly inspiring...
I'm not reminiscing about the old days. I'm imagining the future.

@tallcans4tallbikes
-I've currently only got one ring-cap, 8 shot revolver.
If I get a trip out to Phoenix again, I'm going to see about getting the roll-cap pistol and rifle combo.
I know the rollcaps these use are about as wide as the strike-plate on the gun, so no misfires.
