What are the skinniest tires you can put on a 26" rim?
reply
Depends on how wide the rims are. I used to run 25mm on Mavic 517s.
1.25" is pretty popular for skinny tires on regular 26" rims.
Sheldon RIP
has a nice chart if you know the width of your rim.

I've got 1.2" on my front wheels right now.
I think that is the slimmest width tire you can get for a 26" wheel. It is a bitch to take on and off - but that is probably because the tire hooks into the rim a bit further down than bigger 26" tires.

Thanks guys. I'm a bit confused by all this mixing of metric and customary sizings. But I'll get it figured out.
This is the rim, btw. Should've posted it orginally. ----->

If you have MTB/beach cruiser-type 26" rims (ISO 559mm), Schwalbe has a folding road slick called the Kojak that comes in 1.35" wide.

With that rim you can go with 25mm and probably narrower if you can find them in 26".
