Metro Westside Extension
Time and Place Date: Thursday, June 26, 2008
Time: 9:30am - 2:00pm
Location: Board Room, Metro Headquarters
Street: 1 Gateway Plaza (@ Union Station)
City/Town: Los Angeles, CA
Description:
The Metro Board will consider 2 agenda items of interest. One is whether to move forward with placing a 1/2 cent sales tax on the November ballot which, if approved, would provide funding for the Westside Extension. The other agenda item is the adoption of the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). In the draft LRTP, the Westside Extension is currently shown in the 1st Tier Strategic Plan.
This is expected to be a well-attended meeting with many people & organizations wishing to weigh in on both items. In order to allow the Board to get through the full agenda, and allow opportunity for a variety of views to be expressed, there may be time limits set. This could include setting a specified amount of time for public comment on an agenda item or allowing specified blocks of time for sub-regions or project advocates. In order to ensure that your view is heard, you are encouraged to consider the following suggestions:
1. Submit your comments in writing in advance. They should be addressed to Metro Chair Pam O'Connor and will be distributed to all Board members. They may be sent via e-mail to oconnorp@metro.net or by fax to 213-922-4594.
2. Join with others planning to attend and identify one or two individuals to speak. They can ask you to stand during their comment time to indicate that they are speaking for other individuals.
3. Bring lists with you of other individuals you are speaking for. You can hand these to the Board Secretary for the record as well as to media representatives.
Remember, speakers are only allowed 1 minute for their remarks and you will need to go through security before entering the board room. Please plan accordingly. Thank you for considering these suggestions and for your flexibility and understanding on June 26.
We will post the links to the Board Agenda, and associated staff reports just as soon as they are made public.
