Calling all nerds:
The new X-Files movie opens July 25th. I say we get a group together to ride from the end of LACM to a theater. I don't know which theater yet, but one with a GIGANTIC screen, for sure.
Mulder.
Scully.
Awesome.
Who's with me?
GET EXCITED!

I want to believe that people who ride Critical Mass have better things to do than sit mindlessly in a theater for two hours.

Spiral, dude, calm down. I said AFTER Critical Mass. It is early; usually there is a ride afterward. I am proposing that the nerd crew bail on the after-ride and go watch a movie. Geez.

That show used to give me such gnarly nightmares. Specifically that one episode where rattlesnakes are coming out of faucets and shit. Or maybe that was one of the nightmares it gave me. I dont really remember.

Yes, I hope so. But right now the Arclight website only lists it "coming soon" to the Sherman Oaks location. I'll call today and see if it is also coming to Hollywood. If not, I will try to figure out another theater (and one for which we can buy advance tickets).

Yeah, there used to be one like that in Providence too. I don't know of any here, but that doesn't mean there isn't one (anyone know of one?). I'll look into that too.

I tried calling Arclight's "customer service line" today but all I got was endless ringing. Great service, guys! Thanks!
I'm going to try to stop by the theater tomorrow and ask. Will also call or stop by the Vista. Any other suggestions for possible theaters?

Was bummed to find out today that it definitely isn't playing at the Arclight in Hollywood. Will check at the Vista tomorrow (their telephone line is just a recording and it only mentioned this and next week's film).

Regarding X-Files memories, the episode that freaked me out the most was, "Home," the one with the weird inbred family with the mother under the bed. That. Shit. Was. Seriously. Fucked. Up.
My favorite is still probably "Bad Blood," where Mulder kills the kid he thinks is a vampire and then he and Scully each tell their own version of the events. Great Luke Wilson guest appearance.

Well, I leave it up to democracy at this point. It looks like the choices are Los Feliz 3, Grande 4-Plex (downtown), or The Grove. If you plan on coming, please voice your opinion.
My opinion is this: these are all sucky choices. Los Feliz 3 is a pretty sad theater. I've never been to the Grande, but I've heard the same about it. And the Grove is a big fancy theater, but the Grove sucks and the tickets are super expensive.
The nerd in me, though, says we need the biggest theater we can get (i.e. the Grove). Plus, advance ticket sales are a plus.
What do you all think?
(This all has really sorta made me depressed, though.)

theroyalacademy07.21.08 - 2:46 pm

no reason for depression, yo. if it happens, it happens. i'm gonna vote for los feliz strictly because the location is probably easiest for me, and therefore i'm more likely to make it after work... but even that isn't fo sho. (you know how it is...)

The episode that freaked me out the most was that one where the serial killer was running around Columbus OH, and murdering women he lured from chat-forums.
The gist of it was that he excreted some wierd-ass, chemical from his mouth that broke down body-tissue into goo that souped the skeleton.
I was 12 years old and didn't drink Orange Juice for three years.

9:30 at the Los Feliz 3 on Friday (it's their last screening of the night). Which means we need to leave Wilshire/Western at 8:45 SHARP SHARP SHARP FOR REALZ. And maybe also keep up a pretty decent pace (not fast, but not beach cruiser slow).
Does that sound agreeable to everyone?

Okay, fellow nerdzz, I've
posted the details. I'm saying leave at 8:30. It is only a 4-mile ride, but we want to get good seats, and possibly seats that are together too.
It is opening night, so it is REALLY IMPORTANT that you buy tickets ahead of time. They are on sale now at the theater box office.

So I went this evening to try to get tickets and they said they're not going on sale until tomorrow. VERY FRUSTRATING. I talked to the manager yesterday and she said they were already on sale. Sorry if anyone tried to get them.
Anyway. if you can, you might want to pick them up earlier in the day tomorrow. But, if not, we should just try to make it to the theater with plenty of time to spare to make sure everyone gets tickets. But since it has not been on pre-sale, it is far less likely to sell out ahead of time.
