yo brassknuckle! and fuzz!
and everyone else!
there was some talk of doing a ride for this weekend LA Pride celebration....
we could do the traditional "Unicorn Lap" of West Hollywood after the parade on Sunday...
or we could QUEER-PRESSURE STORM the Friday night festivities??
or, on Saturday night, QUEER-PRESSURE STORM with Los Angelopes?
or if nothing then I simply wanted to say:
GO GAYS!!!
and yes, that pic is a real canadian thing that happened.

Yeah, I know they're on it... it's definitely happening!

But I believe the proper spelling is Quier Pressure!

Gay or not, I would aviod West Hollywood. The Sheriffs hate bicycles and will issue citations and crack some heads.

avoid...not aviod.

Depending on how they feel the next morning, some of Team Midnight Ridazz were talking about doing that ride as the follow-on to the ALC ride.

I know the WeHo Sheriffs are a handful, but that is not enough of a reason to avoid all of WeHo.
We should be approaching their city council with some kind bicycle advocacy. Not all of WeHo is against bicycles, we should be reaching out to find our like-minded WeHOs.
So perhaps Unicorn Victory Laps with Team Midnight Ridazz on Sunday?
Something that could include both E-HO, We HO and IMAHO.

Ingrid,
The Weho sheriffs control traffic and law and order in Weho. They are like the brown shirts of the Nazi party. As long as your behavior and mode of transportation is acceptable, than you are not bothered.
Two group rides were harrassed in the past three months by West Hollywood Sheriffs. One rider was cited another was pulled off his bike and arrested. We have talked about going to their city council, but to date nothing has been scheduled. In the meantime all group rides are being advised to avoid West Hollywood, or else run the risk of costly citations and good old-fashioned intolerance and harrassment.
Why ride through a city that treats you like a pariah? If doesn't feel good to be treated like a non-human.

dude, i know. i was on one of those rides. police harassment on these rides is reaching epic proportions and is awful, no doubt. let's move forward then!!
i still believe we will have more effective change if we approach their city council. I will go with you to do that.
Come on, let's do it!
The real QUIER PRESSURE!
First there was STORM THE BASTILLE to cover the BAC....
now we need QUIER PRESSURE to descend upon the rather civilized West Hollywood City Council....

If you haven't been it's a lot of fun. Someone post it up. I think the parade starts at 10. It's on their site. Look it up. sorry if this has all already been posted.

HAHA! Yeah... I remember that..
Also, about the WeHo SD, if it's anything like last year, the SD will have their hands full with crowd control and will probably ignore us, the streets are already blocked and traffic is already fucked in the area, so they don't seem to give a crap.
I am definitely down for the:
Start somewhere at 10
ride to said parade
party at parade
ride around after parade
idea.

Tom,
what time does the parade start? Some of us just won't be able to wake up and meet at Dan's place by 10:00AM. but we can definitely meet up on the way to the parade somewhere in Silver Lake/Hollywood.

well,
The first-ever Los Angeles-area PRIDE parade was held on June 28, 1970 to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the drag-queen-led rebellion at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. The Stonewall incident is considered the beginning of the modern-day LGBT equal rights movement, and is celebrated each year by festivals across the country.
The 38th annual LA PRIDE Parade is expected to gather over 400,000 people this year and will feature over 125 parade entries including floats, bands, performances, marching community advocacy groups, smiling seniors, proud parents, out teachers and convertibles with honored guests. The parade will run west along Santa Monica Blvd. from Crescent Heights to Robertson Blvds.
The 2008 parade will take place Sunday, June 8, starting at 11:00 a.m.
The parade will run west along Santa Monica Blvd. from Crescent Heights Blvd. to Robertson Blvd.
Santa Monica Boulevard will be closed from Fairfax Avenue to Doheny Drive from 6:00 a.m. Sunday through the conclusion of the parade, which may be about 6:00 p.m. Parking on West Hollywood residential streets without a permit will be allowed until 7 a.m. Monday
Last year the parade was pretty well cleared out by about 5:30, and the streets reopened by about 6, which is about when we started riding. I'm thinking we can go watch the parade whenever we want to get there, then meet up the same way we did last year, at the park/island thing at the intersection of crescent heights and santa monica at 5 ish, then ride when the streets seem usable (i.e. open)

Fuzz, is considered the beginning of the movement in LA, Cali, world?

It's sort of considered the public beginning of the Gay movement in general, although it had been going on for a while before that.

I'm down with the Queer Pressure ride if it is at 5ish. Plenty of time to kick off the hang over from the night before. As long as the Weho SD won't harrass us. Let's ride!

I think it' actually going to be bumped an hour earlier, 4 pm. to cut down the wait time between parade and ride.

wurd... after talking to fuzz now, yeah it seems like a good idea to make the time around 4pm.....
we will decide on a place (probably crescent heights and santa monica blvd) to converge around 4pm....
sounds like it is easiest to just converge upon that intersection at 4pm... lots of lovely benches to sit on....
this way we can be lapping and celebrating while the festival is going on and the roads will begin to clear for further riding as it wraps up....
p.s. GO LAKERS (game 2 is sunday at 6pm! eeeep! maybe i'll just watch it in weho!)
