need some pedal advice..

I need a little help in regards to pedals, please...
I have an old school Sintesi road bike that I need to get pedals for. I used to have 105's on there and they were great but I put them on my newer, faster road bike. I was thinking to go with toe clip pedals rather than clipless ones so that I can use this bike when I go on party rides and have regular shoes. Is there a specific type of toe clip pedals that would work a bit better or are they more or less the same. I was looking at REI and they seem to use Wellgo, Perfomance Bike seems to opt for Forte and Bike Island has all sorts. I'm not sure if there's some type of toe clip pedals that I should go with that would give me a bit better performance? What do you guys think? Or should I say screw the toe clips and get one of those pedals that you can clip into one side and has a sort of a platform on the other?

I prefer clip-less with Mountain bike style shoes. You can walk around in them pretty well unlike the road style.

I agree with Joe. I really like SPD pedals with the mtb style shoes. They let you walk around mostly normally (I wear them all day at work) and they are way better than toeclips for riding. They even make SPD shoes that look like regular shoes so people won't be asking you about your shoes all the time... I really want to get some Time ATAC pedals. They are better than SPD imo. Then again, with most party rides you don't do actually much riding so toeclips might fit the bill. I can't dance, but I
really can't dance in bike shoes.

I use mountain shoes on my road bike too for the same reason. I can walk around in them. For pedals, look at the Shimano PD A-530, clipless on one side and platforms on the other so you can use regular shoes if you want.

If u get toe clips, consider the plastic kind. In my experience, they retain yer feet just as well as the metal kind, and you can find them for free or close to it at bike shops and co-ops. I've seen the metal ones ruin shoes, and snap off when stepped on awkwardly or when braced on a curb to balance the bike, not to mention the $$$ difference. Was gonna suggest those Holdfast straps the kids nowadays all use but that probly wouldnt go with yer bike, even if they are comfy and shoe-safe, albeit overpriced in my opinion.
510 Brand Shoes with Time ATAC Z Pedals are what I prefer tho...

Thanks for the help, everyone. I think i'm going to do what Raina suggested on the MR FB page and get some MKS pedals with toe clips. If those don't work out, I'll probably go with the Shimano's with clipless on one side and platform on the other.
