So my friend Jason is trying to do a 60's pin-up style photoshoot with me which will include fine beers, vintage scooters and 45RPMs and we're trying to look for a good photographer! Film is OK, but digital preferred for this shoot... Preferably I'd want someone who knows how to work with film as well, that way I can process the film and put this shoot into a portfolio!
Set will be made at Bar One Noho in North Hollywood.

I would love to help.
I don't have most of my higher end equipment in LA county, but I do have a DSLR and a couple of film cameras to use.
You can probably find someone better for your needs, but if you need, I am there.

Sorry if there was any confusion... I'm looking for a photographer to SHOOT this project. I'm going to be the model. We have most of the shit we need for the set... Bar One Noho, vintage Vespa p-series, I have a bunch of mod dresses and I can do the hair and make-up (of coarse). We're just looking for a digital photographer who has experience in shooting models and ETC ETC. I don't shoot digital so I don't know shit about shit when it comes to any of this, hahaha.

If you want to do a 60's style shoot I would strongly recommend shooting film. Film just has that look to it that digital just can't quite match yet. It's like listening to an LP vs. a CD. I love shooting this kind of thing, and I'd love to help you, but I can't afford to work for free.

I know EXACTLY what you mean... That's exactly why I don't shoot digital... YET. I know eventually I'm gonna have to convert. =T
As for pay, I'm not certain yet. I'll follow up with my friend. What are your rates guys?

You're going to find a photographer eventually. I still want to help, whether it be setting up, breaking down, w/e. But I want to be there.

I'm thinking of getting Richie to help with the shoot since he's being VERY lenient with pay... Pretty much we just need a ride for him and his equipment and we're good to go! If you can organize a ride for us somehow, that'd be great! And you can definitely help set up, if anything. :)

aw man this would be such good experience for me but I'm not talented enough for this yet...plus i shoot film too. haha. but same as alfredo i'd love to help if you need any. just being around photoshoots is a learning experience.

However, does anyone happen to have a corset or girdle I can wear under my dress? I don't think lonjas/beer babies are very Mod/6T's, HAHAHAHAHA.

Why shoot digital?
I have a fridge FULL of sealed "vintage" Ektachrome 64 and Ektachrome 100 in 120 format you can pick up for CHEAP to give your photo's that vintage look.

What light source are you going to be using? Daylight/set lights? Do you have set lights if you plan to work indoor/after sun down?

Mook - Ektachrome is color film, no? Cuz I haven't learned how to process color film yet.
NeoTerror - The photoshoot is going to take place INSIDE of Bar One Noho. So the lighting conditions are going to be pretty low since it's going to be inside of a bar.

Well maybe you should bring some normal lights to enhance the lighting situation. At least you can WB so that it won't turn out yellow.
I've got a Nikon D300. Depending on the time of day, I may be able to let you borrow it, but I would have to be there and get it back when you're done with it. I really don't want to offer my skills because I'm not sure if there's any to offer...LOL

Yep. Color reversal film, It's E-6 process. You need 7 different chemicals and must maintain a very tight temperature of 100.4 degrees.. If you go +/- 1/2 a degree you fuck up the process. That being said, you really won't want to process it in a daylight tank.

No, I don't color process. I soup (mostly Tri-X and Neopan Acros)in HC-110 or Rodinal depending on how much grain I want to pull out of the neg's.
For color I get the $4.99 prepaid mailers from Fuji. It's cheaper and less of a hassle at the end of the day.
If you want to do lots of color your going to want a JOBO processor. You turn it on, it gets the chemicals up to temp and keeps them there. You program them to agitate when you want. It's pretty much automatic. Here is a nice one on ebay.

If you have a garage and shoot lots of color, and have lots of friend that shoot color, you can always get an old mini lab, just like the drugstore in your neighborhood has. That would be a lot of fun. I think it will only do C-41 process thoe.

I plan on converting my restroom in Portland into a dark room/processing room. That looks like it'd fit in there all easy! Does it cross process and everything else?

Hey, I finally ended up finding a photographer for this shoot! Our only concern is our location. Initially we were going to shoot it at Bar One, but then we ended up moving it to a tattoo shop and then the tattoo shop was FAIL too... So now, our main concern is finding a good location. We're going to reenact a 60's pin-up style shoot... Vintage scooters, 45RPMs, mod mod mod... So any props anyone is able to lend would be great. These photos will be published on flyers for soul nites, 60's clubs, reggae clubs and some website (I forgot what it was). Hahaha.
I'm sure everyone here knows Old HC Dude (Robert) right?! Well, anyone who's into traditional ska/skinhead reggae (HOT SHOT SOUND SYSTEM), northern soul, punk rock (ECHO PARK'S DRUNK TANK!), metal... You've all seen him photographing at the shows!
