Helmets for dreads?

a friend of mine has a really sizeable mass of dreadlocks on his head and he wants to get a bike. he's ridden for a long time without using a helmet, but i really think if he's gonna do it often, he should have something. does anyone know of any [preferably inexpensive] specialty helmets or protective wear for the head, that can work with huge domes/hair?

"for you snow addikted dredis that want to protect ya noggin, finding a helmet that fits your head and your locks can be a challenge. my helmet was a very tight fit until i decided to cut out the vents on top and pull my locks through them. you have to separate your locks into smaller groups first and hold them together with elastics. then you can pull groups of locks through the vents instead of one at a time.
once through the vents, you can let em just hang, but i've found that hanging locks in front of my face as i ride is kind of an annoyance. so i pull my locks into a single pony on top or two pigtails also works. having your locks go through the vents creates much more room in your helmet for your head, plus you'll probably be the only one rockin' tha dredi helmet steez on the slopes (at least i haven't come across anyone else doin it in my 17years of shreddin)."
