I saw just about every other bicycle at critical mass with a small blinking white led strapped to their handle bar. where do you get that?
reply
YA GET THEM ONLINE, BETTER THAN AT THE BIKE SHOP, MOST ARE OVER CHARGING ABOUT 25 DOLLARS EACH. NO BARTER POWER EITHER.

BUT WAIT!
THESE ONLY ARE 'RED' LEDS, SEARCH FOR ONES THAT HAVE A CLEAR WHITE LED, THEY STAND OUT BETTER!

BEST DEAL:
Four super-bright LED's and all the light and run time you could ask for. Optically boosted center LED's light up what's ahead, and wide angle side LED's with side light pipes provide 180 degrees of visibility. You'll see the road, and drivers will see you. 110 hour runtime steady mode, 300 hour runtime flash mode. Batteries included. Water resistant.
LED's: 4 White
Run Time (Steady/Flash): 110-300 hours
Batteries: 4 AA included
Part No. 112 282

How much is that?
I want all the lights in the world on my bike. My bike will be a light. My bike is a light. Light bike.

I'm cool with my Cateyes for the back, one on the bike and one on my bag. But that headlight... where can I gets me one?
I want something powerful enough to go fast (read: faster than 15mph) and still be able to see/be seen.

When you go to the (any) bike shop, bring aksendz so he/she can get a helmet.

You laugh, but you also ask me about my light pretty much every time I turn it on and you are nearby, and it was in that price range, too. $300 is cheap compared to the cost of an ambulance ride, let alone actual medical treatment. Blinkies may have some effect on your visibility to other cars, but they do nothing to aid your ability to see road hazards with enough time to avoid them if you are moving faster than a walking pace. Blinkies are fine for a large group ride, but when you are riding back to your car/home at the end of a ride, a light that actually casts some light 50-100 feet out is essential, if you ask me.
Same theory goes for helmet, by the way. If you've got a discount brain, go ahead and buy a discount helmet. A spendy helmet fits better and is way more comfortable, which means you'll actually wear it. The $50 you save on a cheap-ass helmet will disappear in the first 1/2 second of treatment for a head injury.
