Possible Stolen Bikes at Pawn Shop
Thread started by Gav at 11.4.09 - 11:08 am

For all you bike lovers and and hard core riders who have had their bikes STOLEN: I just wanted to RE-POST this ad again cuz I think that this pawn shop is buying Stolen bikes!!!!

There is particular pawn shop that has lots of bikes for sale.....and many of them seem that could have been stolen.....my stolen bike showed up at this PAWN SHOP 3 weeks after it got stolen from my place....I ran an on CL for 3-4 weeks and then someone notified me by email that he had seen my bike at this PAWN SHOP. Sure enough, it was there. The Pawn Shop bought it for $80.00. They were gonna sell it for About $300.00....It was custom built and I had spent over $1000.00 to build it up. Thus I had offered and was willing to give a $300.00 REWARD to any information leading me to the bike, which is the amount I paid to the individual who informed where it was at. So, if you care much about your bike, go and check this place out and look for your bike there...And when you do go, do not tell the employee working there that you are looking for your stolen bike. They will care less about that. Just have your Police Report available and call the LAPD if you happen to find it. The LAPD will do a better job at trying to assist you get your bike out if the pawn shop has it. This Shop has over 30 bikes, most of them piled on top of each other. They have road bikes, mountain bikes, Crusiers, Fixed gear bikes, many high end and some seem low end. The pawn shop address: MARINA PAWN BROKERS 2549 LINCOLN BLVD (NEAR THE NORTHEAST INTERSECTION OF WASHINGTON BLVD AND LINCOLN BLVD) MARINA DEL REY, CA 90291 310-823-5626 THE POLICE AGENCY RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AREA: LAPD--PACIFIC AREA DIVISION 12312 CULVER BLVD LOS ANGELES, CA 90066 310-482-6313 GOOD LUCK ON FINDING YOUR BIKE FELLOWS. NOTE: TRY TO VISIT THIS PLACE AT LEAST TWICE A MONTH FOR AT LEAST 2 MONTHS. MY BIKE ENDED UP AT THE PAWN SHOP ABOUT 1 MONTH AFTER IT WAS STOLEN FROM MY APT.....PEACE.... I will stop posting this ad til someone else informs me that they found their bike at this pawn shop.

thanks for the information!

i wish we could use some legal force to stop this guy from supporting bicycle theft

as long as people are paying good money for stolen bikes, people will steal them

let's target people who buy stolen bikes!

if we get bike licenses, does it record the bike serial number??

if we have official documentation saying we own a specific bicycle by its serial number, we can get back stolen bikes!

anyone have any experience with that?

Marina Pawn Brokers

Um, yes, that pawn shop does sell stolen bikes. The dudes working there are pretty fucking flagrantly stupid, I have never spoken to anyone that dumb in my life.

At least one person has recovered their bike from there after contacting the LAPD.

I wonder if the place is insured. I wonder if anyone would miss it if it spontaneously combusted into flames overnight.

Actually, there is.

Technically speaking, anyone buying or selling used bicycles or other used goods with a serial number in Los Angeles is supposed to provide a record of the serial numbers, etc., to the police so that they can be checked.

The law's pretty much been forgotten, but it might be worth calling them and asking them to do a better job, as the law is still on the books and they're clearly not complying with it.
