Fancy-Pants Bike Repair

Hey. My brother has one of those weird Cannondale bikes with the "lefty" fork. Rather than try to explain it (which I find impossible) I posted the photo. Anyway, the seal is shot or something and all the oil has leaked out of the fork... er,, shock.. thing. He's been looking for someone in L.A. who can fix it for a reasonable price and was last told it costs seventy bucks "just to change the oil" in that thing. Anyone know anything about these things or who he should take it to for repair?
Thanks in advance!

I own a Lefty. Circa 2005 I took it to Newbury Park Bicycle Shop (in the 805 near Thousand Oaks) as they were one of the only places that had the proprietary parts to service it. The only other alternative I found was shipping it to Cannondale on the east coast.
Not sure if Newbury still services them--I heard the dude that did the work might no longer be there--but they did a great job.

Helen's Cycles (or I.Martin in Beverly Hills) are a licensed Cannondale dealer they should be able to lead you in the right direction. Cannondale *usually* treats their customers well so I would try to see if you could have it fixed under warranty otherwise I wouldn't be surprised if it was expensive to fix...
