Bar 107 told us we could go in but then as soon as we got in they stopped serving. So we got some more beer at ralphs and watched harry sleep on the couch at lances house.
Yeah, the autobot formation was pretty impressive! Last call is a quite a motivating factor to get 15 people to jigsaw their bikes together on one pole with a cable lock and two u-locks in under three minutes!

hey im actually leaving soon but if i had to guess i think it will be between 10-13 miles. ideally 2 stops and shooting to get back to the start about 1230. if you plan to bail early we wont be going too far out of the way.

Seems Fearless Leader Steph is off some place but Fearless Smokehouse Lance is going to be running things. That's the rumor anyway.
The Mosey is going to happen. I spoke with Lance on Monday about it.
Get to the Smokehouse before nine if you want food; we'll leave at 10 or relatively soonish thereafter (it might be a little late since Lance has to help close up the Smokehouse).
I know you're at least partially joking, but please don't get as trashed as the dude in the striped shirt last week who kept running into people and curbs and pretty much everything. That guy was no fun. Seriously people, if you just want to get trashed, go to a bar, not a bike ride.
(And it is possible that Lance wasn't posting because last week's ride was so huge and he wanted to keep the numbers down....... But, if so, I guess we've ruined that plan......)

My friend and I didn't get spoke cards from last week. Can we have some? I'm happy to hear they actually exist! BTW I'm the friend of the girl whose bike you fixed nicely with the brakes and such, telling her to change her gears. Thank you again for that.
Hey buddy, c'mon, I said WE'VE ruined that plan (if that was the plan at all; he could've just forgotten to post it for all I know) -- I've been the one telling people all along that is was happening and thereby encouraging everyone to come.
The reason to maybe try to keep it small is not to be exclusive, but because with a larger group comes more responsibility as far as keeping everyone together and safe. The Mosey has generally been 15-30 people, in my experience. Last week it was more than 60. That just starts to make it a different kind of ride. Which is fine, and I am confident that Steph, Lance, and the group as a whole will manage that change, but it is a change.
And please don't think that I speak for Lance/Steph/anyone but myself. I'm just some dude on the internet.
you guys are great cause we can talk with open minds and still ride with love and respect for eachother..... and dont worry guys i wont drink too much thats why last time when i got too drunk i left early...

Brad, yes there are "approved" generic spoke cards that I made for the mosey with a cool design from Jason Hadley (Frumble). I dont believe Steph or Lance want to have weekly spoke cards, so until they say different...

Sins and Sprockets Ride hits the Westside
What: It's officially Bike Week, so we'd be remiss not to tip you off to Sins and Sprockets, an informal gathering of social riders who cruise the streets at night. Dust off the mountain bike Uncle Ron gave you for graduation, slap a light on it, and join up with the gang, who will cruise the Westside for 10-20 miles of bawdy humor and calorie burning.
Why: Meet some new folks and get reacquainted with the balcony barnacle known as your bicycle. (And if you find yourself suddenly addicted to the wind in your hair, head to the Urban Bicycle Commuter Expo in Pasadena the following day for more bike tips.)

p.s. i know where there is a hidden pool that's about 80% safe to sneak into not far from the starting point (near belmont high) ask me if you're heading towards the red line on alvarado anyways.
For future referece July: If you're coming north on the blue line, just get off at the end (7th/metro) and ride up main from there...it's about 1.5 miles, pretty easy. Sorry to hear you got a flat tonight...hopefully we'll see ya soon!
Thanks to everybody who came tonight and pushed through the newbie-discouraging hills at the beginning...and braved the sprinklers to rescue others bikes and bags...this was one of my favorite moseys ever!

Hey everybody, so i'm organizing a ride from Spring Street BBQ to 4SBB! And after 4SBB back to Spring Street for the Mosey!! Meet at 5pm, leave at 530pm to get to Shatto by 6pm.
No,no,no. The ride is just organized by the big important city fat cat. But it is about everyone in this city that wants more stick figures on bicycles painted on our city streets.
The flier states that the ride leaves Shatto at 615 and goes to Park La Brea along 4th street and then back again to Shatto by 8pm.
I want to make it back to Chi-town from there by 9 to get my rib on....

Since it doesn't get posted on the ride list I'm not sure the name matters much ...but I would vote to keep it as is. (like Steph and Lance asked for a vote) I always thought the "chill" part meant "brisk" anyway. Ha. Are there really people getting dropped besides the e-tards that showed up that once? I consider myself a beginner and I've never had trouble keeping up. Plus I'm dragging an amplifier and a twelve-pack of beer. Maybe we should all just listen to Lance when he asks to slow it down. Mosey forever!

I'm comfortable at faster speeds but from the very first ride we did, i was surprised at the pace vs. title of the ride. Chill & Mosey are connotative to 10-12 mph on the flats. We are a little above that and i like the pace. But it is a little deceiving. I don't mind the title, but maybe just post the approximate speeds we travel at to let others know ahead of time.

Guy hit a bad crack in the road that sucked his wheel down and he went over the bars. Split his face open from his lip to below his chin. Looked like on tv when they peel someones face off for surgery. Sean is probably right though they probably will just stitch it up. but there is no way in hell that guy didnt need an ambulance. he hit the ground hard.
He hit the ground face first. So, in the long run, it will likely just mean a few stitches. In the short run: minor head injury that meant he was in no condition to ride.
A lot of blood = we wanted medical help for him quickly = ambulance.
Yeah, it was bad. Even if he wasn't split open and pouring blood, I wouldn't dismiss a blow to the head/face at that speed; you never know what sort of internal trauma you've sustained.
john, dude, we hope you're okay let us know whats up when you can.

John I hope you get better.I'm really sorry this happened to you but I'm glad your alive. dude that was really close. I know that its painful but your a trooper. your bike looks fine just the handlebars were a little off not bad and the tire needs to be looked at...its the work that comes with a road bike. Please take it easy john, that fall didn't help the one you were getting over. I will buy you a helmet like mine so we can both look cool:)
The way John tried to get up after the impact and with the gash to his forehead...no way he doesn't have a concussion. Glad to see how many people helped him out. I agree with Stilline, he definitely needed the ambulance. thanks to the ones who stayed behind with his bike until his family came to pick it up. Get well soon, dude!

Doubtful that overtighteing led to that break. It wasn't near the clamp area. It was at least an inch from the outer edge of the ribbed clamping surface. I don't know what to make of it, it looked liek such a clean break. Weird.
