I would like to make a proposal for a ride:
The Oktoberfest Ride
Who: Anybody 21 and over
When: Saturday, October 18th
What (time we depart): 6 p.m.
Where (do we depart): From the German Consulate
How (long is the route): 19 miles, flat route, by bicycle obviously.
Alright, so if anybody went on the Farradsternfardt (AKA: German Ride that was on 7/9/08) we started from the German Consulate and ended at the Alpine Village. Took a while but eventually we got there. This is why I would like to take off early to get there: I know it will be crowded and the ride itself will take at least an hour and a half.
Here is some information about the festival:
Lasts until Oct. 26th (the 18th is the only day I can make it)
Admission is $5.00
Beer: $6.00 for a small (16 oz) and $12.00 for a large (32 oz). Wine also available.
Food: Pretzels ($2), Susage Dinner ($10), Huge Hot Dog ($3), Soda ($2)
It's outside, in a really big tent and I have been told--it gets crowded.
THEY DON'T ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS.
Oh ya you guys (and gals) should dress in lederhosen and the likes, it's just more festive that way! :)
Now the only thing I am concerned is afterward. I am not responsible for your actions but since I work with the PD (civilian) I really don't want to promote this ride without saying the following:
*It's absolutely illegal to bicycle under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. Please please PLEASE if you guys want to do this ride have some sort of arrangement of going home if you know you won't be able to sober up before you hop back onto your saddle. There.
Now, if you guys are for the idea--let's see a show of bumps of interest.
