MR App/Bike Club Apps

Hey RB...
So u have mentioned possibly making MR into a smartphone app. Any progress or tis this idea dead/no go? I soooo detest the FB, I keep mine off most of the time. It sucks, because I'm missing out on a lot of events.
MoMs could benefit from this greatly, as well. Either an advanced forum setup with private bike group pages here, or smartphone apps, with such features? Or even individual bike club apps, so each bike club could keep their own info private, yet also allow certain info (like public rides) to be available to the public, also.
I'm not much for that type tech stuff, but it shouldn't be too hard. I've never paid for an iPhone app (every app function I've needed, has come thru in free apps), however id even be willing to pay .99 cents or $1.99 for an app or two, devoted to LA bike rides.
Ideas, thoughts, roadblocks... Discuss?

If u bookmark midnightridazz.com onto an ifone, it leaves the skull icon on the screen. I just look at it and pretend it's an app.

Ha. I don't post much, but MR is def in my bookmarks.
It's where I learned all the rides, when I was starting... The point is, not everyone is so social, ya bisch. I don't know how to have friends. Back that. Anyway.
I was just wondering if an advanced forum setup or an app idea might work. Or am I really the only person (who is in almost all of the FB groups, but just not on FB much...), the only one that doesn't want to be on FB for everything, all the time?

I like yer idea. I would love an MR app, just to say 'I have the official MR app'. In my mind, it would combine group texts, email lists like google groups, and Strava all in one thing. Also it would let me know where the nearest late nite convenience store is, nearest bike shop, etc. Im sure this would all be a shit ton of work for Roadblock tho haha.

Well, I've just been getting into strava, it entirely it's own app. And there's plenty of other apps and maps for stores. However, it would be great to have groups and lists if rides, all in one place... Instead of trying to figure out all the different groups on FB. The info could be linked to FB tho. So people in FB commenting and listing stuff, shows up in the app, and vice versa. So there isn't confusion and multiple posts of a topic, where it's hard to keep track of who said what, where. But the app would ideally be much more anonymous and have levels of learning and/or security as well. Most forums that are powered by vBulletin can handle most of these features, no? Something possibly built off that foundation, but with added features and locked sections or groups, that can only be accessed by registered members via passwords. In other words, so that not all sections are viewable by the public.

Good to see you're still so POSITIVE and making yourself useful with useless elitist advice true to your joyous soul.

I'm not sure why RB would charge for this app. He's raising enough money for MR, no?

A lot of attention would have to be devoted to this. And many people with less income or less tech savvy or whatever would be missing out. Just like fb has done to you.
