i hope that attempt at facetiousness was also supposed to be self deprecating at the same time.

With expansion comes the inevitable lowering of standards...a 'lowest common denominator' kind of effect...when there's several hundred MRs the community can be somewhat cohesive and self-policed...when there's three or four thousand or however many could claim that moniker, and participate in rides on occasion, obviously there's gonna be more fuck-ups and negative elements in the group as a whole.
That doesn't mean there aren't a corresponding number of more positive influences as well, but that's just not what we hear about as often.

get down off that ROOT pedestal! just 'cause you outgrew the party rides (i have no idea what your story is, in fact i dont even know you, so i guess then the rest of this response would just be totally ungrounded, and i should just shut up before i go any farther.)
to each their own, however....

MR is what it is.
It's not devolving, and the idiots aren't ruining it any more than usual.
If you exercise common sense and go looking to have a good time with friendly happy intelligent people, you will most likely succeed.
If you tend to get angry, overdo it on the booze / drugs, don't bring tools / tubes, take other people's stuff, don't keep an eye on your bike (and any desirable but easily removed things attached to it), and fail to exercise basic courtesy and consideration for others, you probably won't have as much fun.

Well, one thing I'm becoming somewhat concerned about is a gap growing between "Hustle" ridaz and "Chill" ridaz.
On many of the larger rides, I see this look of resentment on the faces of those in the back as they look on at the speed-contest going on up front.
It's cool if people want to ride fast, but they should know what type of ride their on before they start whoring out their sprinting abilities.

i guess i don't have much support considering i've only been riding for a few months with all you guys. But, i can say that what i saw on the first ride i attended wasn't what i was expecting. I thought it would be a totally chill late night bike ride with lots of people who love to ride and have a lot of fun doing it, but i didn't think i'd see SO MUCH drinking and SO MUCH smoking. i mean, i get these are "party rides" but, come on. seriously? we're on bikes yet we're barely even riding them anymore...
i hope this thread actually conjures up some constructive thinking and people don't just say stupid shit because they're afraid that we are in fact "devolving." thanks for posting rbi.

i hope this thread really conjures up some thought about how we're conducting our rides. it seems to be getting pretty bad... again i don't know how it used to be so i don't have much of a claim but, i'd certainly like to see MR go in a new (better?) direction. just my opinion. and i hope others who post their opinions don't post stupid shit because it doesn't help. you just further support the theory of "MR-Devolution".
thanks for posting rbi.
