Anyone done a fast food drive through on a bike? I tried it last night and was turned away.. until I really put my foot down and then they finally took my order. Is there some rule that bikes aren't allowed at the drive thru window??
reply
yeah, they dont allow it if it isnt a motorized vehicle. they dont give a shit whether or not you follow the same laws as the cars on the road when youre riding your bike either.

yeah del taco is really chill about it. esp the one on venice and robertson. the worst ones are jack in the box and mcdonalds. they are both dicks about it.

Jack in the Box at Venice and Overland as well as Carls Jr. on Venice and Sepulveda are bike friendly.

Flash a Benjamin and that ought to make 'em shut up!!!
Otherwise, Del Taco is probably one of the few, major chains that could care less about the drive-thru customer being in a car, or not.
Some dude on a Harley told me he was too, turned away from a Jack window.
It's like the requirement with them is four-wheels and a motor.
Another thing I wish some places would do is place a drive-thru for big rigs in the ordering lane.
Fuck that 9' foot and under bullshit!!!

yeah i've always hated that you can't ride a bike through. it's really hit or miss or how cute you are or whatever. del tacos usually open their dining area late so that's cool of them. i don't get the rule or why though. it's not like you're going to bail and go, ha ha or something... or is that why? they want you liable if you're in line? i'm sure people speed off all the time though and go "oh shit no wallet!"

my understanding is that it has to do with insurance and what's or who's covered if there is an accident.

There's some kind of weight trigger that vehicles can set off that they use as an indicator. I've been turned away before too, but I SWEAR I saw people ON FOOT getting food from a drive thru window somewhere while I was riding down somestreet during CRANK MOB saturday. I was totally amazed.

Insurance and liability issues are sucking the F.U.N. out of this country.
Hopefully, in another 20-30 years, frivolous lawsuits will no longer be heard and everyone can just lighten up.
Besides, when the drive-thru is tightly packed with cars, no one's going to be speeding through there unless the "Jaws-of-Life" are present.

the general thing i usu hear is that they are worried that people on bicycles will get hit by cars while in the drive through and they don't want to be responsible

YOU ARE NOT A CAR! ... wasn't that a direct quote from a misguided police officer in a thread a while ago?
stop eating junk food in the middle of the night, it's bad for you...
and eating at the taco truck is better, since you're helping out the little guy...

Going through a drive-thru on a bike is fuckin awesome. I went to CArls Jr. after the 1 yaer anniversary of CRANK MOB w/ a buddy of mine and we tried ordering our food though the intercom only to be turned away. So we went to the window and started screaming to the clerks that we were hungry starving students(drunk and stoned, i might add) and we dont have cars to drive through. Some random dude eventually came to the window and felt quite sympathetic for us, so i ended up ordering a jalapeno buger w/ criss cut fries lol. I took it and bounced home, and for some reason, that has the best carls jr. ive have to date. w00t!

And I'll give you two guys, a friendly piece of advise, ok? Don't ever go up to the drive-thru, ok? Always walk up to the counter. You know why? Ok, ok, ok, ok. They fuck you at the drive-thru, ok?
They fuck you at the drive-thru.

I am tempted to roll through the Jack in the Box by my place. The other night I saw three people on horses go through the drive-thru with no problem.
Maybe it is a Four Wheel / Leg Rule

@MOM_Ridazz? The 7-11 in Highland Park? Not allowed? They have one of best beer selections in LA... expensive, but fancy stuff.
Ya'll should stick to taco trucks and taco stands, it's better for you for you anyway. Plus it's better for the community.
and your mom.

McD's on San Fernando will serve. I was starving one night, and rode up to the window and they were all smiles and service.
I did notice that there was a bicycle locked up there - probably the guy who helped me rides his bike to work too...

the paranoid side of me thinks it might be because these establishments have secret contracts with the government and other illuminati fronts and all they want you to do is waste gas. the more you waste... the more you have to buy and so on and so forth. i swear, i went to a taco bell once at around 11 and there was no line whatsoever... i could've swore i waited close to 5 minutes for my burritos and tacos.

or the dude working was just stoned.
In high school there was this one wendys that you could go to and buy weed through the drive through. the manager was in on it and everything, place almost got shut down when the cops found out.
