For Santa Monica locals, I encourage a no vote on Measure T. A phony measure claiming traffic reduction by placing a strict cap on commercial development. Proponents make it sound nice by masking it in ambiguity, but the devil is in the details. It does nothing to address current traffic issues, freezes in place poorly planned areas and has a wide range of opposition that includes schools and hospitals. This measure would seriously undermine the Santa Monica Land Use plan LUCE, and as a consequence is bad for cycling and pedestrian issues.
If you want a Santa Monica that with mixed use development that encourages pedestrian and cycling traffic, measure T would inhibit that. So let's vote it down and I hope it burns in flames. Raaaarrrr!!!
For more specific details about why Measure T is misleading and full of epic suck, check out this blog devoted to picking it apart.

(NO ON PROP T)
I wrote up a blog piece on why I am so strongly opposed to Prop T for Santa Monica, billed as the Anti-Traffic proposition. It will freeze in place bad planning by putting a cap to new development in economic activity, stop all mixed use and transit oriented development that benefits pedestrians and cyclists, and far better alternatives exist to address traffic, including the currently unforced parking cash out law for employers. If we let this measure pass, it will set Santa Monica on a path further to the right, and I don't think any west siders or those who love to visit want to see that happen.
