hey i was just wondering what was the best way to wrap handlebar tape. I look at my wrap job and its kinda sloppy, but the shops i go to all have theirs nice and evenly wrapped. help?
Wrap toward the bike, and overlap about 1/3rd of the tape. Check after each round to make sure you got it tight and there's no air bubbles. Don't be afraid to pull fairly tight on the tape, good tape should stretch.
Fizik (the slick kind) is my favorite, it stays clean and lasts long and can be rewrapped.
Just when you wrap it... I've had this problem before.. is to wrap the bar in which the overlapping goes w/ the grain... as you position your hand on it. Hard to explain... but if it's wrapped in the wrong direction.. like from the stem down to the drops... your hands will go against the grain and you'll wear out the tape faster... This video helped me out... Good luck!
