I have 2 night rider lights....I charge the batteris up from scratch. after a few hours, the light turns green from red. I unplug the battery....I plug it right back in and the light stays red for about 20 -30 minutes then changes to green again. repeat and it does the same thing. i haven't tested it more than 2 times. has anyone else noticed this?

same happens here.. but it doesn't affect run time. Happens on both my Minewts and recently on my trinewt.

my minewt.x2 doesn't do that, but it doesn't necessarily mean that there's anything wrong with yours, especially if you're getting reasonable time out of it in use. Mine did do some weird things once and when I called NR they were pretty good on the phone and gave me a warranty replacement.

The charger isn't entirely a dumb charger. It may actually be testing the battery for the first 10 minutes or so, and then it may have some juice to restore once it is done. My motorcycle battery charger does this. Also, any battery will fail to register an absolutely full charger almost instantly after it is disconnected (since only a physically perfect battery could truly get 'full') and the charger may be programmed to continue charging for some number of minutes after full charge is reached in order to ensure that the battery is at max. Since it doesn't read absolutely full when you first plug it back in, it then charges for the minimum time, regardless of charge state. You can probably determine if it is doing this if it always takes exactly the same amount of time to switch colors.

that makes sense, but whoever programmed that charger is dumb for not thinking of this use case

I found NR to be super-cool with the customer support.
Hit them up.
When my battery went bad, they exchanged it in less than a week. No charge, no hassle, no paper work required; because the unit had been out a shorter time than the warranty period (2 years( so they knew it was covered.

I'm getting 3-4 hours on them both so I'm stoked on them....I just figured they should work the same somewhat as a cel phone....phone says "charge complete"....then unhook....rehook it up, says "charge complete" immediately..
thanks.

As posted earlier in this thread, I would also agree that it probably charges up fast to 90% or so and then trickle charges the rest. I used my new MiNewt on robotz for the first time and everyone was like "DAYUM! That's a bright light!"
Love!
