when there's a big red sign at an intersection that says "stop", it's more than likely a good idea to actually stop.
Earlier this morning I was in my car for the first time in a week to run some errands and nearly hit a person on a bike who was so focused on getting his iPod earbud back in his ear he was completely oblivious to the fact he was blowing a stop sign at an intersection where the cross traffic had a green light.
Fortunately, I drive like my grandma so I had plenty of to figure out this guy wasn't going to stop.
As he passed a couple feet in front of my bumper, I reminded him that running stop signs isn't a good idea. His response was a pleasant "fuck off."
Dude could have just as easily got taken out by someone in a Hummer and the whole thing would have been his fault but instead he had to yell at the guy with a roof rack on his car.
Good times.

I always lol at bicyclists who have what amounts to exactly the same attitude as the 'ignorant' drivers they talk shit about.

hmm... i had to google "filthy cager" to find out i was being insulted. nice.
i've driven my car just over 12.5 thousand miles in the last 7 years, which is less than 2k miles a year.
so far this year i've ridden at least 4200 miles- only have a computer on one bike.
so, i'm a still a filthy cager because i have the audacity to drive once a week?

I don't understand how people can ride with earbuds in. I mean, when I'm riding I sense the cars around me and especially behind me with with my ears you know. I can't imagine having lil' buds in there reducing my awareness of my surroundings. But I suppose each is entitled to his own.

On many MR rides I've nearly plowed into ridazz who were wearing ear buds and didn't see me coming, even with a music trailer blasting away behind me.
Sean, I'm afraid to know what that thing is.

i made a thread about people wearing headphones on group rides before.
i ride with headphones when im on the bike path in ojai because it isnt as dangerous as it is to be listening to them while on the roads in la. now my headphones are saved for riding the metro so i dont have to listen to all the banal conversations going on around me.
