is my bike original?

My homie just bought a 1986 12 speed Bianchi on ebay and it had no "B" branded on the fork & frame. His brother's Bianchi has the branding so it made us wonder about the authenticity of the bike. Does anyone know if there are bootleg brand-name bikes out there? or is it because the bikes were made in different years or countries?
reply
maybe but the frame itself doesn't have it either.

I used to have a mid 80's bianchi limited and from the litte bit I know it seemd like some bianchi will only have decals instead of a nice metal badge on the head tube, but all of them have a "b" or the full "bianchi" name on them right there at the top where the seat tube and the other tube cross. If it has no b but it has a badge then most likely they bough a bagde and put it on something else.Sorry dude.............

Bianchi's been in business since 1885 and their frames have been made in Italy, Taiwan, China and Turkey, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Some Bianchi's are worth decent money, some are pretty generic. Unless you've lucked into one of their high-end race frames, I wouldn't worry about counterfeiting.

I've seen a few 80's bianchis that were definitely legit but lacked any stamping in the metal and only had decals.

there was a time, oh in the 80's or so, that pumps were made to fit inside bike frames... on the top of the pump handle was a little hole that fits right into that little peg coming out the back of the neck of your frame...the pump handles were usually a little springy, and the tension held the pump in place right below your top tube.
the pumps back then were fairly long, making filling up your tire easier than the tiny little pumps that they design now.
you can still probably find some on ebay, and it would complete the retro look of your bike! just make sure you find the right sized pump...some were longer and some were shorter to match the top tube lengths...

this one is on the seat tube, not the headtube, but its the same thing. you get them depending on what size your frame is. i think i still have one that fits a 62or 63cm frame at my parents house.

there's also a random bracket thing on the right seat stay..what is that for? The only thing I could think is to hang your chain on it when the wheel is off....

it's a little peg above the back right axle, correct?
if so...it is indeed for hanging the chain...

my bianchi is from 88 and is all decals too. although at this point im assuming my bike was custom as, as much as ive searched on the internet, ive never seen anyone post / mention anything like my bike. not to mention the stem/handlebars/seatpost were all custom when i tried switching some of them out.
yet again my bike is ridiculous looking.

your bianchi looks weird because its so small and it has a 650 or something front wheel with a normal 700c rear. karlas got one too.

24"! get it right. haha. Yeah, Karla's is a terry though, which is what bianchi im assuming based it off of. since i dont think bianchi made any after that year, while terry is still going strong with that geometry.
