No idea but I started getting all these emails from people from my office asking if I was okay so I figured something real bad happened. I hope the person in critical pulls through.

I don't believe it...haters have taken it to an all time low. I understand that not all cyclists are out there giving us a great name..but give me a break...we are still more vulnerable to any traffic situation that we may be faced with, yet they wanna gun people down because they may have caused them to slow down??! WTF!? What is this going to come to? I don't want to suggest that we start arming ourselves but...... where is our protection...where is the apathetic LAPD in all of this..or the DA for that matter...I swear if our nation wasn't so bent on being out of shape and glued to the tube..then maybe they would give a fok... I mean are we really "asking for it"?!

Yeah, they all look like mountain bikes. No hipsters, apparently.

this blurb says that the shooters fled on foot and also adds the following information:
"The case has been assigned to the gang unit at the L.A.P.D. Newton Division, said watch commander Dino Caldera.
Anyone with information of the incident is urged to call the LAPD’s Newton Station at 323-846-6547"

This is a job for Sgt. Krumer. Whether this crime involves our Fixie rider friends or anonymous busboys on their way home from work, these victims deserve some justice.
Has there been any update on this shooting?

I just spoke to the lead detective on the case. The cyclists were most likely mistaken for gangmembers by the suspects due to their age, ethnicity, and attire. There is no evidence to suggest that they were targeted because they were cyclists.
The investigators have had little success with follow-up as the victims provided bad phone numbers and addresses. Contact cards were also provided but as of yet none of the victims have called us. If anyone happens to know any of these victims please have them contact Detective Barbosa at 323 846-5363.
