FELLOW RIDERS!!! Our very own bird man aka Louis was a victim of a hit and run this morning and is in ICU at the hospital..the family has asked me to collect letter, cards and notes of encouragement from fellow riders and friends to read to him when he is awake...Chrystynamarie@gmail.com or PM me for my phone number if... you have cards or anything..he cannot have visitors at the moment..please keep him in your prayers.
I don't know for a fact that Louis IS the person that story is referring to. I know he lives in Santa Monica and they say he was going fast downhill and either hit a car or was hit by a car and the article is very vague...

louis is in a medically-induced coma. and i know he was wearing his helmet, because he never left home without it. he is also one of the safest riders i know, which makes it all the more shocking that this happened. please don't take it for granted that this can happen to any of us.
thank you for your good wishes, but please send your love directly to louis. he's not taking visitors now, but his family will be reading his cards to him. please contact chrystyna (chrystynamarie@gmail.com) and show louis the support and love that he has always shown to his friends.

that damn la cienega hill..... do we know if he was riding a bike with brakes or fixie brakeless? that would give us some insight on underlying reasons.... however, if he had brakes, i doubt he would've run a red light at holloway... which means maybe he had a green and the driver that hit him probably ran a red?
this just sucks alot. i ride through that intersection all the time O_O
I'm going to guess he was on his Bianchi. I've never seen Louis on a fixie or single speed. He just got a P4 but I don't know that he had taken it out on the road yet.

Yep that's his Bianchi..Louis has such a supreme enthusiasm for cycling. I'm so angry this has happened to him. I don't pray but I do have hope for a full and speedy recovery.

Knowing Louis (I worked with him for 3 or 4 years) when he gets out of the hospital, he is going to be wayyyyyy more pissed about his bicycle than his own body. Trust me. The dude's a machine.
Twitter is buzzing about this. @WehoDaily is reporting that a female suspect was apprehended on Sunset Blvd soon after the hit and run. She was in a Black Mercedes SUV with rear end damage.
Those goddamn Merc SUVs...god I loathe them. And people drive those things around here like they are toys or something. I can't believe she had the audacity to flee the scene. What a goddamn bitch, fucking rot in hell, you stupid inconsiderate cunt.
