whats the difference between diabetes 1 and 2?
which one is the one that bigger folks with high blood pressure are supposed to watch out for?
do u not have enough insulin production and ur body cannot absorb sugars?
is that how it works?
KiMS112.8.08 - 2:55 pm

type 1 (aka juvenile onset) means that your pancreas just stops making insulin. its usually hereditary. type 1 diabetics require daily injections of insulin in order to live.
type 2 (aka adult onset) means that your pancreas still secretes insulin, but the body doesnt recognize it anymore. type 2 diabetics usually take pills to trick their body into recognizing what the pancreas is making.
type 2 diabetics can turn into type 1 diabetics (in that their pancreas just stops working) but type 1 can never turn into type 2.

this may seem like a dumb question but do u guys have to eat like a granola bar every few hours or are the sugars in the beer enough?
KiMS112.8.08 - 3:15 pm
reply
are we talking about on a ride?
it depends on how much insulin ive given myself and the amount of exercise. granola is like beer = long acting complex carbs that take a few hours for the body to break down. you need a mixture of fast acting (fruit or juice or something simlar) and long acting to keep yourself out of trouble.

ive never not had anything to give myself, but my sugar has plummeted for no reason before and ive had to go to the hospital. its not fun. you black out and do stupid things like a drunk person.

if your ever diagnosed, prepare to be a sucker to medical insurance companies. syringes, insulin, lancets, test strips, etc etc do not come cheap.
ruinedbyidiots12.8.08 - 3:33 pm

yeah
i used to work/intern at a pharmacy and that stuff was not cheap at all.

whenever i eat a higher fat/protein based diet for about 2 weeks straight and leave out carbs for whatever reason
and then munch on carbs like a mofo because i am a pothead and have the munchies
i get really really really bad pains in my upper abdominal area.

theres pretty much carbs in everything. except for green vegetables, cheese, and meat. i mean, yeah, theres carbs in like, peas or green beans or something like that, but you can eat all the salad you want and your blood sugar will not fluctuate much (if any) at all.
