Anyone familiar with vector artwork? I need to convert a jpg or tiff into a eps or ai file for a charity I do work for. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

open up illustrator.
open the jpeg into illustrator
use a function called "live trace" by selecting the jpg and then clicking live trace (cs2 or higher) you can tweak the settings in there.

Depending on the complexity of your jpg/tiff, both Vector Magic and Live Trace might not work very well. Generally I have found Vector Magic to be a shit-ton better than Illustrator's live trace with 95% of shit.

Converting raster images to vector art can be one of the biggest pains in any designer's ass. If the automatic services don't work well, then you have to do it by hand in illustrator = very time consuming!

Here's to hoping Vector Magic / Live Trace work well!

watch out with livetrace, stuff can look livetraced and shitty very easily. its almost better to just fuck with levels than actually uturning something vector.. and IF YOU MUST.. pentool that shit by hand, it'll look 10xxxx better.
