track vs. road frame sizing

im in the market for a track frame. properly fitted I ride a 52cm road frame. Now since the track frame geometry is much more tight/compact.. would a 54cm track frame be too big? is the sizing still considered the same no matter the geometry? or would it still be ok. mind you this will be for mainly for street use and not purely track.
I know a common answer is to jsut ride to see if im comfotable, but unfortunately this is a sale across states so i cant really test ride. so thats why am looking for answers here
thanks

The 52cm vs. 54cm doesn't mean much other than to get you in the ballpark.
Ask the seller what the top tube, down tube and seat tube lengths are, and then compare that to your current bike and see if it's an issue.
You can make some modifications by adjusting the stem length and seat height, but if the standover height is too high, there's not much you can do about that.
2cm is less than an inch, so unless the 52 was close to being to big for you already, you'll probably be fine.
Can you find a retailer of the bike manufacturer in the area to get a sense for the sizing?

Ride the bike, your body will tell you what's right. Don't buy online unless you've tried the same bike and size at a local shop!

im comparing both geo specs now... which ones are the ones i should be look for.
with stand over height my road frame is: 748
stand over height for the track frame is 783
seems like a big difference, but the same 49cm track frame is still 767 (still much more than my road frame, )
top tube is about the same
what else should i be looking at..
here are the charts if you wanna check them out yourself
My roadie - 52cm

Don't you generally want to go down a few cm when converting road -> track?
i.e. if you ride a 54cm road bike you'd want a 52cm track bike?
