8th Annual CranksGiving Benifit Alleycat Race

Possibly the best annual alley cat race LA has to offer, the Cranksgiving charity race has raised money and donated food to Para Los Ninos every Thanksgiving season for the last EIGHT years!
Cranksgiving was originally conceived and promoted by NYC bike messenger Tone Rodrigues over 10 years ago, as a way for the New York Bike Messenger Association (NYBMA) to give back to people less fortunate than themselves. In 2001, a couple of LA messengers went to Budapest, Hungary for the Cycle Messenger World Championships (CMWC's). They met Tone there, heard about the race, and decided to organize their own Cranksgiving race in LA that year making LA the second place to hold an annual Cranksgiving race.
Cranksgiving is now held in cities around the world donating to various charities and causes just in time for Thanksgiving. Come out, race for a great cause, and be a part of the Cranksgiving spirit!!

YES YES YES the PREMIER LOS ANGELES ALLEYCAT!!!
The funnest, most chaotic, the best EVAR! So many memories of fun, and so much charity and food is raised! I race in this every year, even though I know I probly wont win it! RIDAZZ, consider doing this, even if yer not a fixie hipster or racer, just doing it as a scavenger hunt with a group of friends for F.U.N. is a blast! You don't actually pay the $10 entry fee, that's just roughly what you spend on the grub, and they still give you a nice spokecard and T-Shirt!

@ashira, I've never been to this. I don't intend to compete, but I would like to watch / participate somehow. Is it worthwhile to head down to watch? Does anybody need any help with it? It's such a rad event.

I participated last year (not with any intention of really competing) by doing some of the stops and contributing some food goods. It certainly felt good to be riding intensely for a cause. I was thinking of volunteering this year if help is needed.
Any idea who I should contact? Echo Park Cycles?

I just read @tallcans4tallbikes comment above. Maybe I'll do it not to compete, but just for F.U.N. Maybe just do a few stops, like Rollers did last year. I'm excited!

We could do it Tren Way style!
Go to one stop, buy all the goods (plus beer), then ride slowly over to the drop-off point, pausing to eat a few times on the way as the mood strikes.

I'm excited for goldsprints as well even though I'm out of shape. Is the Crankmobile going to be there? Does this still meet at Sawtelle and LaGrange.

I've been going to Echo Park Cycles lately and the U-Lock Mobbers there speak of this event with absolute love in there eyes.
I have to DJ tonight so i can't be there. But you should go, and expect one of the best bike events of the year.

I can't ride my bike in the rain, it's not a beater, and would get royally fucked up.
Do we see a break in the rain?
