would you guys/girls even come out?
i can't provide the cool prizes you had before but i can definitely provide a bucket for cash bets and a 6 pack of domestic beer as a prize for first place.

Depending when they are I would come out. Previously the sprints have been on nights I can't go. :[
I went once in November I think and the turnout was pretty good, like 15 or 20 racers. Some guy tried to steal my bike light we were using for the finish line.

Go 4 it KIMS1, I always wanted to hit this but always seem to miss it :(
Maybe even do it OG street racer style. Ridazz post up and challenge each other and make their own side bets (if gambling were legal of course) then the two riders with the most wins go head 2 head for the 6 pack and bragging rights. I can make a cool spoke card for the winner.

friday- go out with non bike friends and get shitty.
I think wednesdays are best since all the other nights have weekly rides where as WNSDRS is once a month (?)

you know what you should do is have it Thursdays but early around 7:30
that way it'd be over by the time bicykillers starts and everyone who is nice and warmed up from sprinting can do bicykillers, too.

As I am going to be incorporating these sprints into my training, I plan on taking them seriously.
Win, lose, whatever...but I'm going up there to sprint. Not stand around drinking and bullshitting...which is what the last few sprints boiled down to.

i have a walking measure wheel to calculate actual distance for the sprinters who like to do it legit.
also maybe some dedicated people at the finish line who would like to judge with walkies?

the playing level can be severly changed if drafting is allowed.
the problem with the current format is the one who can put out the raw power will win. which will tend to be the bigger build person. and since nobody feels like doing the 500m version, which would be considerably longer but would level the playing field for many.

BTW WNDSRS still happens every Wednesday except the last one. It has turned into more of a training ride 18+ MPH for about 20 miles. BARCHOPZ is the last Wednesday of the month.

No Drafting in drag racing
Drafting will cause crashes and turn the races into cat and mouse events,
Ok for 500 meter matched sprints at the Velodrome
Lame for bike path sprints.
250 meters is usually the standard distance for one lap on a Velodrome
Match sprints are two laps 500 meters.
In matched sprints a walking pace must be maintained for the 1st lap,
then a track stand is allowed for riders to try to take advantage of being
behind who ever jumps.
Sprints are all about who has the most power.

the bike path is a bit crowded the earlier it is. not much on the end the sprints are but i know it is a spot most ppl go to turn around and head back on the path. i'll bring the measure out and some chalk maybe this weekend could spot out the distances? start point/250/ 500/ finsh line? let me know.

I have only been to the sprints once, but I was surprised how bad pedestrians were at getting the eff outta the way. They were like deer in headlights, no matter how much we yelled and shouted and rode right at them, eventually we had to dodge them.

Are geared and fixed to be run together ?
At 500 meters fixed riders will be at a disadvantage on starting if geared
high for distance.
Last time when I brought my fixed it was noticeable how much an of an advantage
geared bikes had on the start. gaining several bike lengths in the first meters.
Suggestion is to give fixed bikes several bike lengths head start on there starting
positions. Similar to at the street races when a faster car will start several car
lengths behind the slower car, a handicap.

i will need help with scoring, i can do a simple bracket but i've never done this before so I will take all the help that is offered.
I should have caution tape at work. I'll try to snag it. i think this way, we can have a finish line as well as use it to keep pedestrians off the bike path.

if we could've gotten a 'league' set up with racers showing up regularly it would've been 3 bucks for the 'season' with 20 racers.

plus, i have date night with my old lady this wednesday and if i bail on that, she'll have my nuts in a vice.

you didn't miss anything.
i think the combination of it starting too early and me posting it too late caused a low turn out.
next time, i'll post it for a later time since wndsrs doesn't seem like its goin down anymore and i'll give more of an advanced notice.
for the two heads that came by after we left, i hope you found the winner's prize we left in the tree.
if anybody is riding around that area today, you should go by and see if the prize is still there. it's in a box in the tree.
i guarantee hours of fun inside the box.
